This is...not how i envisioned this.
The words haven’t even fallen down the proverbial floor of Kagome’s mind as she sits in a luxury air cabin, a tray of freshly sliced oranges and apples placed on a table in front of her as she tried to restrain herself. She took the moment gradually. It was like one of those moments in the movies, where you think you’ve made it big. Kagome looked over the man responsible, who was looking almost too serious as he was watching episodes of Fallout intently.
James Ranger.
It took a measure of focus to understand why she convinced him it was just for a few gigs. He was hesitant to do it when speaking to him on the phone. His voice sounded so distant, almost weary as he ponder the legal consequences of pulling, what he considered ballsy and potentially inconsiderate of his other obligations. His mother had survived a rather dangerous affair with the virus three months ago, causing him to slowly fall apart and request a leave of absence. His mind was not the same for the days that passed. She wanted to accomplish something breakthrough by reigniting the flame without the tower within.
She wanted the Black Mamba to return. At any cost.

Kagome stared at him with almost childlike excitement, he glanced up quickly and back down to the video feed as she took the luxury he was spending for the separate flight to Japan. He didn’t want to risk anything, even going so far as having the company accountant mark it down as an executive expense he rarely used. To which his accountant almost celebrated in amusement that James was willing to use his resources for once, to go on a merry trip and set up new contacts for the company.
If anything else, the bonus was being within arms reach of an old foe.
He paused almost intently as the video feed freezed on Christian DeMarco talking to Kagome, the subtle smile, the eyes intently gauging her movements, Kagome’s body language as she attempted to make progress towards what he believed was purely a peaceful mission.
He sighed as he closed the laptop. Too soon, not yet. There was plenty of time to resume a duel that clearly wasn’t meant to end. He checked his pulse as Kagome raised an eyebrow at him, he chuckled as she shrugged, knowing that it could be any reason, but James knew what and why he was doing it.
He leaned back slowly into his lounge chair, clasping his hands together and resting them on his lap as he pondered the situation.
Project: Honor had connections, wealth of talent, potential for growth, potential to dominate in the wrestling business. Its frequent business dealings were proof of that when James attempted to revive his first home. The business model wasn’t strong enough to last, he hated having the bury something more than once, but that was the nature of investing in a scenario that favor no one. He closed his eyes as he took again stock of the situation, smiling.
He was set to compete in a dark match. How long had it been was treated with the mystique of being unknown and a variable no one cared to noticed? He could savor this as a means to take a weight off his back with each match. He knew who was in charge, but the conflict need not be presented so early, he mused. He knew the “why” in this scenario…
Christian DeMarco was the cherry on top. The last item on Santa’s list of gifts to give to James Ranger. He would savor getting that moment come to fruition when it arrived. There was championships to acquire.
Well..it wasn’t as if two championships suddenly got placed in a casket or anything in the month he signed the paperwork and mailed it in.
He had taken note of that event, was utterly shocked, not since his days at High Octane Wrestling, had he bear witness to a level of chaos that felt like pinpricks all over his body. He did his best to suppress the shudder that began to creep over his body. He needed to avoid a scenario that put him in unfavorable straits that early. Beating the best of another company required long term planning.
Patience and ice cold water in his veins. Slow and steady wins the race, he thought as he faced the window view of them just reaching the coastline of Japan itself. While his matchup with Crash was a tune-up. He need to get back into the mindset, breaks only recovered so much. He needed more than a distraction right now, this was the best solution for it.
