(OOC Note: Not my best work, haven:t been feeling the greatest. Plus some stuff came up, won't happen again.)
XHF’s Night of Champions had come and gone- and MYOJIN had successfully retained their X*Crown against the six people that had wanted to take it from them. That. in itself, was a good thing- what wasn’t something to be happy about, however, was the state that the match had left them in. That and wrestling the day before, at NLW, Shouta was beyond exhausted once they finally made it back to California. They weren’t injured, medical checks had made that clear, but there was so much continuous punishment that one person could take before they finally cracked.
But they had one more match in the month that they had to worry about- While Night of Champions was the 20th anniversary of the XHF, the upcoming Proving Ground would be the 1st anniversary of Project: Honor. It left the blonde with a lot to think about- considering they would be teaming up with two people that they didn’t exactly have the greatest love for. Dickie Watson, the man that had beaten them at Bloodbath. Lil Petey, the man that Shouta had beaten before at Hell on Earth- and they were going against every champion that Proving Ground happen. Emmanuelle, someone that they were rather fond of, was their semi-regular tag partner that they had some history with. Ozymandias, the enigmatic big man who kind of reminded them of some Batman villain who was the Grand Champion.
...And Lance Williams, someone that Shouta would love to take the X-Factor Championship away from.
The match had a bunch of different personalities clashing against one another. A bunch of egos, it was rather worrying to them- especially on their team’s side, it bothered them. Though at the moment, that was the last of their worries.
“(Easy, easy…)”
The soft, gentle words of Himari had a hint of worry to them as Shouta took deep breaths, a somewhat pained look on their face. The blonde exhaled sharply as their fiancée slowly helped them sit down at their couch in the apartment that the two shared. She leaned over, kneeling in front of them so she could see their face. “(You’re still aching, is there anything that I can do for you?)”
“(I’m okay. I just need to take a breather..)” They responded, sighing gently as they rubbed the back of their neck. Shouta rubbed their shoulder, though it had healed ever since the incident in which they were injured before The Crowning, every now and then it would still be rather agitated from the number of bumps and impact they’d take. Though that was simply the life of a wrestler, and they had grown rather used to it. Himari still looked worried as Shouta rolled their shoulder before standing up and taking a deep breath.
“(I am just… worried.)”
“(About what?)” Himari asked in response, Shouta brushed their hair out of their face as they sat up. They were pretty bandaged up after the chaotic match they had gone through. Though nothing too serious, it would just take time to heal. “(About this match… the team I’m on seems to be nowhere near in-sync. Dickie seems like he’s in a worse mood than usual and is lashing out at everything and anything, he even said he doesn’t really care. Lil Petey is… while his heart is usually in the right place, and he’s been steadily proving himself, is not exactly who I’d call responsible- like getting high at the last Proving Ground. If all of us are not on the same page, then there’s going to be a big issue. We’re going against the best three that Proving Ground has, the champions, and..)”
As they were talking, expressing their anxieties without taking a moment to breathe, Himari placed a finger to their lips- halting them. “(Calm down, you're talking too fast.)”
Shouta took a deep breath, running a hand through their golden hair. They closed their eyes as they brought themself closer to Himari. “(Sorry… I'm just.. thinking. I've been waiting for this shot at the title for maybe longer than a month now. I've been fighting at Project: Honor at this point for what feels like forever, aiming to finally make the best of a chance- and I'm closer than I ever have been. I don't want to have it screwed up because of some match that's going to be pure chaos.)”
“(I know that, but you have to be considerate of yourself. Shouta... You can't control everything. Not everything is going to be in your control, that's just how life tends to be. The best you can do is put your trust in your teammates and do the best that you can. Even if you may not possibly win this, you still have your chance for the title that you want. It's okay to rely on others.)” Himari spoke, placing a hand to their cheek affectionately and soothingly. It was clear she wasn't just referring to their wrestling career, but their relationship as well. Shouts paused, going into deep thought for a few moments.
“(I suppose you're right. I've been so stressed out about everything recently- but if I can continue to go on like that, it feels like I'll end up just losing my mind over it all and won't have my focus.)” Shouta responded, leaning their head into their fiancée's touch. The blonde sighed gently as they sat together for a few moments.
“(I know that I'm right. I also know that you should take some time to rest. You've been putting yourself through so much recently, and I know better than to tell you to stop- so, at the very least, you should heal up the best that you can. Let your body rest for a while.)” Himari gently brushed their hair, Shouta gave her a faint smile. She seemed to know them so well.
“(Okay, I'll go to sleep for a bit. But can you tell you do something for me?)” Shouta asked.
She raised her eyebrows in anticipation of what they had to say.
“(Kiss me.)” Shouta grinned in a teasing manner, Himari simply rolled her eyes with a small laugh before leaning forward, cupping the blonde's chin and pressing her lips to theirs.
So, this is the anniversary, huh? The first anniversary of when everything for Project: Honor began.
Time flew by rather fast.
I remember the very beginning. The matches that qualified multiple people for a shot to become Grand Champion. The work that all of us put in to cause this place to grow, despite Rock Johnson clearly not caring much about any of our health, into the show that it is now. A lot of people who were on that first show aren't here with us now, but there are some of us left- Watson, Petey, and myself. The three, who throughout everything, are still here from the beginning. Since day one.
Though not a single one of us really have anything in common, there's a single truth that can be said about us: If it weren't for me or those two, Project: Honor would not be where it is now. There wouldn't be a Fallout show. There wouldn't be a Legacy Championship. The company would not even exist right now if it weren't for us, and that's something you can't deny.
Watson, sure, is a hothead that quite never really seems exactly happy with anyone or anything. (And I know he'll have something to say to me once this promo airs)- some have called him whiny, others have called him outspoken. Though when it all comes down to it, he was the face of Project: Honor through the beginning. The longest reigning Grand Champion that went through multiple challenges, even myself included. Say what you want about him, but you can't deny his talent. You cannot deny what he has been capable of, and despite the setbacks that he's recently experienced here- He's undoubtedly a threat to anyone that faces him on the opposite side of the ring.
Lil Petey? He showed that he was capable of being something more than just a comedy act that everyone looked down upon, myself included. He fought his hardest to be end up as Grand Champion and showed that he was capable of making it into the main event scene, he even technically was champion for a brief moment. Is he somewhat airheaded? Yes, definitely. Does he seem to not take much seriously? Yup. But he's passionate and shown that he really wants to be a wrestler, he has spirit, and has never let a loss break his spirit.
As for myself?
Well, I'm the Heart and Soul as I've said before. I got up, dusted myself off, and kept fighting over and over. I could've quit, considering that I've been more successful in other companies, I could have vanished- Yet, I'm still here- giving the people match of the night every time that I'm in the ring. Never backing down, never giving up- and I've never needed a championship to validate me.
I can't exactly say that about the other team.
Emmanuelle, honey, you know that I think you're a great wrestler and a great Warrior Rising Champion- but you were struggling until you teamed up with me. I helped you find your way back to winning again. I helped you out of the losing streak that you were experiencing. And I never exactly got a thank you for that, did I? The Warrior Rising division, let's be honest, is not that competitive- not for you, at least, because I've seen you fight higher competition in other places. You're a big fish in a small pond.
Williams, the charity case. The boy who likes to call himself Mr. Iron Man, when I the only one who's won a Iron Man match in this company. But I get it, you don't really have anything else to brag about. You were handed the X-Factor title and when bragging about beating me didn't do you any favors, you continued losing AFTER becoming champion- because you're just that untalented. You haven't defended the belt once yet either, maybe that's because management is trying to protect you because you know that as soon as our title match comes around- you'll lose it to me.
And Ozymandias, the man who'd like us all to be afraid and tremble in his presence- The enigma that seems to be such a big threat, is not that scary when you remember he's only a man. Aiden Reynolds beat you clean, one on one, and you didn't win that Rumble. You're only human, and the human body is easy to twist and contort and BREAK when it's in my grasp.
A lot of people would assume I'm insane for feeling confident against the three champions of Proving Ground, but that doesn't bother me. Because I'm going to fight, win or lose, in celebration of being here since day one.
You can try to take me down, but you can never break me.
