First and foremost, I would like to say that this is completely voluntary. This is going to be a case-by-case scenario, where if someone would want more hands-on help with feedback or just to explore a new character; ideally, this is also for people who are NEW to the game! People that may need help with writing techniques, and direction, we could use all of our knowledge in guiding them to create a character that we would never forget, and assist them in establishing themselves.
It could mean that the veterans acquire nothing from this... but maybe you see the writing challenges created, and would like to give it a go. Perhaps another veteran would like to step in and share their knowledge, and help people with direction. This is a project of mine that Shawn has offered me to use Project: Honor as a housing. It may, at times, seem dead, and like nothing is happening with it, but here's to hoping we can get some fresh faces into it or help veterans who may seem like they're in a rut.
Please read all of the information below if you are interested, whether it be to try out a new character and see what would work and what wouldn't. I'm going to try to create my own "enhancement talent" that would be "students" to face off against the other students and your success would depend solely on hitting the writing challenges! This may also be used for those who are uncomfortable in writing matches, and we would give them freedom to write the matches that take place here as their own practice.
School Name: Fenix Wrestling Academy
Head Trainer: Tara Fenix
Secondary Trainer: Seth Evans
Will “hire” other trainers to assist in training the next generation, should they be deemed a valuable trainer by our board of directors.
Anyone “hired” would become part of a team that will come up with different challenges, as well as working individually with anyone who is seeking assistance.
OOC: Each trainer should use their desired character, or create a new character, to act as a trainer in the facility.
OOC Pitch: There are new people coming into the game everyday, and there are people who have been part of the game who could use some assistance. It is my goal to help them gain confidence, whether they are new to the game or just need to figure out where their strengths and weaknesses are. I would do this by creating a scheme of writing challenges that would give them a goal, a set criteria, to be met. These writing challenges will vary and become increasingly difficult as the “student” advances.
Everything is completely voluntary. Nobody is going to be forced to be part of the wrestling school before signing up… but we know that having losses tacked on can weigh heavy on the spirit. This could be used to just create a new character and get a feel for them, or it could be used for newcomers entirely. It could be used for people stepping into their first CAW-only e-fed, and we could figure out what works and what doesn’t for their character.
I welcome any of the seasoned veterans to join and assist with the training. If you would like to join as a trainer, you may DM me, and if I agree, as well as “board of directors” (admins), I would welcome all the help that I can get. Different perspectives can really help people out. If I see something some way, you see something a different way, we can both help.
There will be “enhancement talent” created as original characters for this wrestling school. There may or may not be a roleplay created, but the victory of the trainee lies solely on whether they hit all of their marks.
Matches will be summarized, with a catch… This may also be used for people to practice their match writing ability! Whether you’ve never done match writing before, or been doing it for years and just feel you could use some feedback, the matches created here can be used for people to practice their match writing. How well did you capture the characters involved? How well did the match flow? Did it seem to drag? Did it seem like it ended in seconds rather than minutes? There is a lot that goes into thought when writing out action sequences. You could write 200-words, and that could be someone performing a simple clothesline. Word count requirements would go into effect here, and we would gradually increase the match writers by extending the word count.
That’s… pretty much the idea, and the gist of it. If everyone is on board, there would be some in-character changes that could be made that would just add further depth to existing or new characters, and the Fenix Wrestling Academy located in Hartford, Connecticut would become available for anyone involved to use in their own way so long as it is not destructive. The in-character head trainer is Seth Evans, since Tara is, at times, too busy to be at the facility full-time.
Writing Challenges would vary based on word count, perspective, narrative, and more to come.
If you would like to become a trainer, and can think of more challenges, I welcome you! If you would like to accept these challenges with a new character, I welcome you! I will add more challenges as I can think of them. This is more than just giving feedback, this is creating it in a way to challenge people to step out of their comfort zone. And... I know I don't like repeating myself, but for the last time, all of this is completely voluntary.

- Word Count Challenge: The challenge is to keep the audience, trainer, or reader entertained from start to finish! The moment you lose the audience: you lose everything. The trainer should mark the point in which they felt they got lost, and it should be noted if there was a successful recovery. Overall, the flow is what we are looking for. A good flow should not be interrupted. This does not mean that everyone is perfect, and does not mean that even the trainers are perfect in this regard, but it is what we are looking for.
-Do not go under/over 500-words.
-Do not go under/over 1000-words.
-Do not go under/over 2000-words.
-Do not go under/over 3000-words.

- Perspective Challenge
-First-person... You are describing everything from the eyes of your character! You likely would not say: “The scene starts--” as an opener, because YOU ARE THE SCENE. You are simply starting your story from the point. Senses… What does your character see? Hear? Touch? Smell? Taste? What are they thinking?
-Third-person / Camera View… This is what I call it: the camera view. All descriptions should be what the camera is able to see and hear. What is the character doing? Just standing there, doing a shoot? Or are they moving to create emphasis? Do they throw their arms out?

- Shoot Challenge
- Accent Challenge - This is more for the “advanced”, I would say. How well do you sell your characters' dialect? Their accent? How do they speak? Example here would be my Ulf Hednir character. It took me many years to come up with him as a character, and a little more time to decide that he should speak with an “accent”.
