Looking at the opponents in the tag match debut it is tough for me not have my own opinions. You try to look everything from a more welcoming and empathetic state of mind, it was much more difficult to break into the business in the era I did, especially being my size. The one person I can see who “ belongs” is Oasis. He’s a fighter who has worked his ass off to prove he belongs , he’s dedicated. Brandon is too focused on being a star and Lil Petey doesn’t have a love or any respect for this business. I just get that old veteran spite inside to really show this kid he’s in the wrong place and to take it seriously. I’m going to wrestle circles around him, he can’t tell an armbar from a ham sandwich, he’s green as grass and I can’t wait to trap him in the turnbuckle corner and chop the shit out of his chest until it becomes like hamburger meat. Brandon Hendrix all he has to do is deliver, he can stand their look pretty while I do the real work.
It gets me so hot and riled up, oh my goodness! Stand up comics deal with the same thing with new viral stars and d list celebs who need something to keep them relevant when it is way more sophisticated than they assume.
I’m 38, I’ve been doing this professionally for 278 months, 23 years, 8487 days. I understand you can have multiple dreams, you don’t have to do one single thing. My goal was to be an astronaut as well. I’m going to be the first wrestler to wrestle in space. I have the skills and abilities to do that now even.
That’s what is going through my mind on this six-hour flight to Peru. It is wild to be making my debut in Peru. I had my spiritual rebirth here 9 years ago.
I definitely have worked enough on myself spiritually to give myself credit without being arrogant, just factually speaking I got here because I worked hard. I do have to acknowledge that there have been instances of fortunate timing, right place, right time and luck that have helped. Destiny is a whimsical concept, it’s a catch 22 though because if you believe in destiny that means no matter what you were meant to end up there, that concept though also takes away hard work, sacrifice.
Ram Dass has said “ Don’t compare your path with anybody else, your path is unique to you.” That is true, it’s easier said than done, especially in this context.
I can only look at things two ways logically and spiritually, don’t mince my words or get the wrong idea, this isn’t a religious perspective, spirituality goes beyond that level of thinking.
Religion is following customs, rules, traditions , deities . The path to enlightenment comes through a genuine curious mind. I remain curious , for instance do debuts matter?
I’ve had a few debuts which have led me to realize they aren’t the be all, end all. It is a starting point. I can’t predict the future, maybe Lil Petey will win and that will continue his journey, he will get closer to being a successful rapper. All I know is when he gets in the ring with me it is not dress up anymore, he’s not cosplaying as a wrestler he is going face to face with Ace Sky, a man of a million maneuvers, a master , shaman and sensei of pro wrestling. What’s your rap community going to do for you when you have cracked ribs ? How awkward and terrifying will it be to deal with an angry Oasis that you embarrass and cost a match too?
