Mark Hunter texts Jelena Martyn.
“Hey sweetie, Chris has just this second given me the name of the bastard, his tech guys tracked the phone that kept contacting me, they’ve found out who it’s registered to. I’ll call you after the match. Love Markus.”

“I'm about to whoop some ass.”
Monday afternoon in San Jose, California. Mark was at his residence on the couch playing his X-Box One. F1 2020 was his current game of choice. Mark was really relaxing but also his bluey/green eyes latched to the flatscreen in the living room that had the volume turned up on the surround system. Each high-definition speaker wired at each corner of the ceiling, and the lights turned off for only the shining radiance of the sun to brighten the environment. Sinked into the comfortable cushions of his white couch, Mark kicked his feet up on the round glass table in the middle of the stadium of white couches surrounding it, and well supported by the brown rug covering the flooring of the living room.
The only thing Mark was focused on was the Grand Title defence, his career, and his family.
“What the hell are you thinking?!”
Jelena came down the stairs barging, and mouthing off. Mark paused the game, and leaned off the couch. His blue shorts, and red shirt was all that he had on but Jelena recently came back from work. She's now started running an online fashion store, and had to be in town to attend a business meeting with some designers. He looked up at his girlfriend who had her hands solidly placed against her hips, making the ever growing baby bump that bit larger, that posture was of an upset person ready to claw. Short blonde hair looking neat, blue eyes well locked on his presence, and if looks could kill; rest in peace Mark Hunter.
“Uhh…”
“Don't "uhh...." me. You know damn well what I'm talking about!”
“Bloody hell Jelena, who pissed in your cornflakes?”
“I’ve just seen Proving Ground. Why are you facing someone like Ozymandias after what he did to Lil Petey, he could have killed him, that could be you for fuck sake?! Add the fact Lance is gonna fucking be there.”
“Oh yeah. That.”
Mark scratched the back of his head, chuckling like it was a joke but Jelena did her research. She became overly-concerned that this 'Ozy' guy would go way too far in a match without rules, and inflict his will on Mark. The physical difference is 100-1. Ozy was a heavier, bigger, and stronger guy who could barely be taken down. You'd have to admire how Jelena really addressed him about these things; he was always the type of person to rush into challenges without understanding how tragic the outcome could be if things didn't go his way.
“Tell me you're not going through with this.”
“I am going through with this.”
“Why?”
“Because I want to. I have to. This is a really huge moment for me, and who am I to just suddenly walk away from a match?”
“I know but I think in this circumstance, it's okay to back out. This guy is really fucking dangerous, leave him and leave Lance to their shit. Seriously honey, just back out.”
He leaned forward against the arm rest. Back out? Are you kidding him? He had a lot of his peers, and critics say he wouldn't last or make it in Project Honor but he damn sure didn't need doubt from his girlfriend. Mark rolled his eyes, and leaned back burying his forehead into the palm of his right hand. No matter where he went, there's always that saying of fight another day right. Always mean to fight another day but Mark doesn't want to fight another day. He wants to fight now, and that means fighting Lil Petey and the next big guy in the business. Ozymandias. It really pissed him off to hear Jelena discouraging him against his massively destructive opponent. She did it out of love. Understandable really but foolish. Mark is way too hard headed to understand what surrender means, and if it meant to be the last time he ever wrestled in the ring, he's going out with a BANG!
“You're really standing there telling me to back out. Back out. Me. Back out?”
“You don't have to prove anything. Who are you trying so hard to convince?”
“Me! Me Jelena! Me! I don't like going to sleep, and hearing about how this guy could snap me with just his little pinky finger when I've endured much worse than him. You really think I like hearing about that shit? His reputation is already annoying the fuck out of me so I want to beat him to end everything, and solidify my spot in Project Honor. I'm sorry if you feel some type of way but I'm doing this to benefit me, and me alone.”
“Oh yeah? And what about the twins? You think they're going to be happy when they find out their own FATHER came back in a body cast or even worse, a body bag before they were even born? You really haven't thought this through at all. You know what? Fine. Do what you got to do, and I'll do what I have to do for the family because I don't care about the short run. It's the long run that matters. Remember that.”
She stormed away, and back into the retreat of her room upstairs. Mark shook his head, and even catapulted the black X-Box controlled halfway across the living room. A loud CLANG was heard of the impact, and it bounced off the brown walls back into the adjacent white couch. She had a point though. The long run is what every father needs to focus on to continue supporting his family. Professional Wrestling has a habit of ruining that, and each father has to sign the burdens of that future being demolished, and crumbled on the dotted line. So what the fuck was Jelena doing trying to persuade him? Was it really out of love for the family or out of fear that she would lose Mark Hunter? It didn't matter. One key aspect was missing in her feelings for Mark, and that was trust. All he wanted was for her to trust him on his decision in facing the biggest opponent in his Project Honor career so far.
Mark muttered under his breath “must be the fucking hormones.”
Just trust him to go into that ring, and bring a fucking war he could never handle but I guess he was already winning since he spread fear into the Huntington household. He got up, and walked to the window panel, brushing aside the soft white drapes for the view. Mark sat on the window pane with his arms folded, What Jelena said really got into his mind. If Ozymandias ends him, could he be doing this right now? It's funny really. They haven't stepped into the ring, and it feels like he's already in the house but Ozy does have something to fear neither Mark or Petey have. An evil side that actually doesn't regret anything unlike them.

The environment, and setting were definitely portraying the more nightly, timid, and dark presence. The light of the moon gave the only source of light to be seen in the room. From the vague lighting, it looked to be a small room full of antiques colored in mostly black with deteriorated cracked walls with a ripped up portrait of a woman hanging on the wall. In the middle of the room, Mark Hunter is seen sitting down on a rocking chair. A hoodie is over his head, and what seems to be a hanging switch is leaning against his right shoulder. The wind blows through the white drapes of the open window, and he doesn't even bother to look at the camera.
"It's raining…”
“It's pouring…”
“The old man is snoring…”
“He went to bed…”
“And bumped his head…”
“Couldn't get up in the morning…”
“You know the first time I heard that song, it brought chills down my spine. That little girl singing it, the entire scary crap floating through my mind, and every time I go to bed, it would always play in my head. Expecting some type of jump scare like Ouija the movie. As time grew on, the song started to fade away as I grew older because I realized something. Why are we afraid of the dark? We think of all the nasty little creatures that were born in it with one purpose, and one purpose only: to scare. Nothing more, to scare us. Our minds continue to think of the worst possible outcome of heading into the darkness that we trick ourselves into believing that the darkness has a hold over us. The moment we step into the shade, our souls are forever taken into it. We're lost in an endless timeline of fear, and darkness. What a terrible fate. Realize this, everything that the darkness is just what our minds make it to be. Scientists see the darkness as light too but I see it as another thing. I see darkness as a way to summon your demons, and use their power to destroy anyone who gets in your way. I see it as that haven where no man should cross unless it is an absolute must. I see darkness as the last resort for a fighting person such as myself unless I am FORCED to bring out that side of me. It's a hidden treasure with a "USE ONLY WHEN NECESSARY" sign stamped on the lid. However, that lid of the box has been opened multiple times, and the darkness abused to someone's amusement. They believe by opening Pandora's box, the darkness would just surrender itself to its founder, and be it's little boy toy for him or her to commend when they see fit. In the end, the darkness always can be overcome, and that's why you Ozymandias, you're going to fail against Petey and myself at Hell On Earth in Venezuela.
“The origin of Ozy in Project Honor is without any question one of where did he come from. It pretty much was just out of the blue as this man started getting results against roster members and talentless tyrants. Now despite the attacks either way, correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think we've had the proper introductions Ozy. See, there could be a lot of reasons why you chose to attack successful people like myself. The Grand Championship is one, but let's be honest, the jealousy inside you due to my success is the overriding factor. Me getting the attention and being popular while you were left rotting in the side-lines made you feel so uncomfortable that the pain was twisting your mind until you exploded. Okay, I don't quite understand what is the reason or goal you believe that you have against us but I do UNDERSTAND that that reason is going to be your downfall when you step up to us. In that ring, you're going to learn just like many before that when you jump the gun without loading the clip, it backfires on you. There's a step you need to take on your first day in the ballpark, and that doesn't mean you swing wildly, and expect to hit a massive home run. You ever learned that before you can walk, you must learn how to crawl? Ozy, these are the things you need to understand to actually NOT get your ass kicked much like the rest of the roster I’ve faced. Matches with fake tyrants impress no one. However, I do commend you. You've chosen the right path in choosing who you want to face to get ahead of the new guys in line but how you walked the path is a whole different story. The way you walk your path to possibly becoming somebody in the company is nothing but a dead end. You've put yourself into a position where you cannot get out, and no one can take the blame but your damn self!”
“The funny thing about Ozymandias is that he'll try to pass off this deviant, and supernatural idea of his supposed "superiority" that he has over us. He thinks because he can engulf us in darkness, use smoke to mask our vision for his time to escape or sneak up behind someone that he’s special. I don't believe anything that this man can bring will ever pass as superior to me. There is no human being on this Earth that possesses that power, and it's damn sure not this man who's been trying to bully Lil Petey and coming out of the crowd to attack me from behind. You want to know exactly what he is? A bonafide run down big man needing to portray something otherworldly just to seem relevant. He's a wannabe who likely got bullied in High School, and just settled down for being a wrestler going to the production management to give him the right tools in performing all these little stupid events on camera. It's literally wrestling 101. He's using the lights, the music, and any other production equipment to fool you guys into believing he is the one man who was born in the darkness. You understand why I have to sit down in this dark room, and lecture him what darkness is in the first place?”
He pulled down the string, and the lights came back on.
“Oh wow, look at this. Darkness go bye bye. Everything about you is officially over. The moment the lights went on, the darkness went out. That's exactly what's going to happen when I kick your head off. You'll be seeing the light, and you'll never go back to the darkness again. The man who believes that the darkness is his own little bitch is going to have a bright awakening when I show him how much darkness can truly mean to another being whose light shines brighter than anyone else's he's ever met. Ozy. I'll beat you down into a bloody pulp until you realize that you do not want to be here anymore. You targeted me? Fine. You can target me all you want, I’m fine with being the attention but I'm coming home strong, and you being a roadblock as you thought you were in my path is the exact equivalent of a speed bump to a car going down the road of home estates. I’ll simply just pass over you, a little slow down for a mere second but i’ll continue the pace of where I left off. Listen to exactly what I'm saying, Ozymandias. You are NOT a man of darkness. You're a man of smoke, and mirrors with television effects to make people believe you can have the power of this dark entity invested in your own soul. I don't care if you're six foot seven or weighing three hundred and fifty seven pounds. The bigger they are, the harder they fall. You don't believe me? Watch Attack on Titan, that show is the clear example of how easily a giant can be defeated. David, and Goliath? Nope my friend. This is just Holly Holm to Ronda Rousey. You're in for a determined ass whooping because of all the ideas, and hype that came to your own head. YOUR own head.”
“You wanna talk about gods, You know who you remind me of? Zeus from God of War III. Remember how Pandora's box was made to conceal all the evils in the world, and Zeus gave it to the Blacksmith God, Hephaestus, so that he could build a key. What happened when Kratos opened the box? Not only did he find the power to kill the former god of war, Ares, but the dark evils poisoned Zeus, and filled him with fear. So he beat the shit out of Hephaestus, and took the key which came to be a being known as Pandora herself which formed the shape of a little child, and stashed her away for no one to ever see again. That poison has seeped into your own veins, and now you're filled with fear because Hell On Earth is your only way of actually confirming your false beliefs that you are the greatest man to ever live in the darkness. You're wrong. The darkness has gotten you close but in the end, you're Linkin Park. You've tried so hard, and got so far but in the end, it doesn't even matter. You're going to wind up on the wrong side of the realms, and Hell will be your new haven. Enjoy all the time you have because when the clock strikes the end, the glass time shall break, and Ozymandias will come to the understanding that the darkness bows to no man, and will always be the winner for those who even think they have a chance of honing their strength. I'll show you real darkness when we get inside the ring, and that darkness is going to be the reason why Ozymandias will be dragged up the entrance path by the local EMT's because he was way too in over his head.”

Beautiful day as the afternoon regime in California is the same as ever. The weather was looking bright with the sun greeting the clouds, and Mark was just making his entrance into the local Walmart to buy some ingredients for him to make dinner later. It was pretty nice to be alone from the Project Honor world and away from home for thirty minutes or so, he needed it. Especially with all the crazy drama that had his name involved over the past few weeks. He got a shopping cart, and walked through the isles pushing it ahead of him to search for the food section to find what he was looking for. Walmart wasn't overly crowded at all as he thought so this would be a quick grab, pay and go. Unfortunately, he was barged to the side by two teenage boys running past. He rolled his eyes, and fixed up his gray T-Shirt while searching through the food isles to find any of the ingredients he actually wanted. His search came up futile for one aisle.
He heard a noise from the far region of the store. Some of the employees were preoccupied with their duties, and being the curious George, he abandoned his empty cart to find the source of this noise. Approaching it, it was the same teenage boys pushing down a little girl into a corner. The girl was crying, and scared shitless. Mark held the boys by their collars, and simply pulled them back as the look of defeat, and retreat rained down.
“You guys like picking on girls? Why don't you try it with me?”
He tossed them to the side, and they ran off. Mark bent down, and opened his hand to the little girl who could only be about eight years of age. She dressed more raggedy than most girls would. Hair in a ponytail, striped coat with a grey tank top. Tight jeans with converses. Mark made sure she's alright but was more concerned why she was without adult supervision.
“Where's your parents?”
“I don't know.”
“What's your name kid?”
“Kyra.”
He looked around for maybe any woman that she looked like. No luck. He sighed.
“So why were those boys bullying you?”
“Because I'm scared of the dark.”
He sighed. Mark was scared of the dark when he was a kid too. A result of watching too many horror movies behind his parents back and creepy songs, so he understood the struggle. Being the kind hearted man he was, he helped her to the first desk where he reported that Kyra was left all alone, and he needed help to alert the parents. The employees used the intercoms to announce that the child was left alone, and Mark stood by her with security searching for the parents who came in with her.
“You okay?”
“Yeah. I wanna go home.”
“Why?”
“I don't like being here. I like home. I hate those boys.”
“They remind me of someone.”
He leaned his right forearm against the edge of the counter as Kyra looked up to him.
“Who?”
“This mean boy named Ozymandias. He attacked me and tried to seriously hurt others, and now I'm gonna fight him soon with another guy. I can't wait to put my hands on him.”
“Is he a bully?”
“Yes. He is. He bullies people using the dark. He uses the Carnage to bully people, but those people always end up failing and getting what they deserve.”
“How are you not afraid of him? The dark?”
“Because...the darkness can only appear when the light is gone. I'm that light. He attacked, and now he thinks he can get the best of me. I'll show him. Oh, I will. I'm not afraid of him nor the dark.”
“I wish I could be like you. When I go to bed, I'm scared to turn off the light but there's always something to make me feel better.”
“What? A night light?”
“No. It's a scripture or say something-ingy. "Let there be light"; darkness is bye-bye.”
He looked at the kid with narrowed eyes, and she seemed to have got her composure back. In his mind, all he could think about was how that could definitely work to his advantage in the ring. He was reminded that through all the dark, and trouble times he had, the light was always there to show him the way out of the tunnel. Before he could even respond to those wise words, her parents were being escorted out of the premises by security. The little girl runs back to her parents, and they've actually been caught stealing. He rolls his eyes, and goes back to his own task.

“Lil Petey, I’m gonna hate myself for a lot of what I’m about to write, that’s why in fact it’s easier to write than actually verbalise.”
“I know what you can do. I've been in the ring with you, as much as I hate saying it, you’ve earned my respect based on your hard work and dedication to this company. How many people can say that? You've seen everything in Project Honor and have competed here since the very beginning.”
“You're a guy who deserves recognition and it's hard to talk trash against a person who is as easy going as you, you genuinely do deserve this way more than many of those bitching about it, Indy Darling booked your opportunity because it was the right thing to do. But enough of the fancy talk and heartwarming stuff, you and I still have a match against a big horrible bastard to compete in this week.”
“You faced me already, you’ve survived Ozymandias twice, you were part of a team that ran legacy from the building. Therefore as much as you are the underdog, you are a challenge I know I can't take too lightly.”
“Don't half ass this and don’t underestimate yourself Petey, you are great. But I'm a different kettle of fish. My Project Honor achievements are almost unmatched. I've defeated the best that the company has ever had to offer. In my first singles match I defeated the X-Factor champion, Indy Darling one on one. My second one on one match was against the Grand Champion, Dickie Watson, I won that and became the first person to prise that belt from his grasp. Those belts were the two biggest in the company when I arrived and I knocked off both champions.”
“My credentials are all there again for this match, something I know you could also one day possess. This match may have a few other factors to worry about, well one big one really, but when Mark Hunter and Lil Petey were finalised as participants you and I both knew one thing.”
“The card just got a whole lot better.”
“Two superstars who always give nothing short of their best.”
“Petey, everyone looks at you as an underdog against me and Ozy. Let's not kid ourselves, from the way you’ve been talking in the past, it seems as though you think that also. But who knows? I've already commended you on your admirable qualities and in the ring, you have the skills and heart others could only dream about.”
“Our styles differ, but deep down our goals don't. I know you want PH gold, but I'm here to prove to the Project Honor powers that be, that Mark Hunter should not only continue being the man at the top of Proving Ground but so much more.”
“My singles record in Project Honor is unparalleled, I’ve beaten the so called best, such as Dickie and Indy.”
“There is a vacant championship which I've always wanted, since I get ignored because I don’t cry and bitch about not getting my own way. I guess I’m gonna have to be clear… I deserve and want an opportunity to be Legacy Champion. My aim in PH has always been to make history. Being the first person to hold the Grand and Legacy titles is history I want a part of.”
“It will be done sooner or later. I will write history to suit.”
“I need to be the fighter that I was in times gone by, I need to be the honorable man that leads Project Honor into a brighter future and beyond the summer many said we wouldn’t reach.”
“I start with you this week, Petey. Sorry, but it's just business, nothing personal. Good luck, but in this case I know one thing for sure.”
“Luck will have nothing to do with it. Bar you being close to death again… expect no help from me.”
