It’s been three long years.
Never thought I’d have to say this in my own conscience but… there’s hope. I feel the hope finally being attached to me. I feel that presence of hope being connected and finally seeing some sort of light, a chance to finally let it blossom, and let the truth I’ve been setting out for the past three years become a reality. The movement began almost three years ago and now, it’s finally making a name for itself, the leader is finally making the great leaps and bounds to secure the namesake of The God of The New World and because of Project: Honor, dreams come true. My dreams have come true to form.
To my right was a man I trusted with my life, Marquis Evergreen. A former tag team partner to myself in the independents before the injury that soon made a swift transition to being in the managerial role. As I glanced over from my seat in House Kirstein - situated on the outskirts of Leicester City - I began to notice some concern on the face of Marquis. Though I tend to not put any past on the matter. There’s more to look forward to after all, and time was at the element, it was time to train and work hard to play hard with these kinds of people.
What a day to be The God of The New World- though, I do believe I need to build myself up to that moniker. I cannot be a god without some physical proof of that name being a true to word thing. Would having one of their championships mean anything to me? Would defeating anyone in my wake mean anything to me? If I were to be a god amongst these men and women, they’d have to make me do all of these things twice over. They play hard to get. I’m a well aware man, I understand their meaning to such a thing.
Barriers were made to be broken, however, and quite clearly they made sure these barriers were easy to knock over. As if they were made from paper mache.
“Levi, can we talk?” Marquis’ voice harrowed through the halls. “It’s not urgent but a chat would be nice with you about all of this that you’ve gotten yourself into.”
I had no question for Marquis, nor an answer to any of his self-doubting claims, but with him- he was like a right-hand man in every operation, in every situation, or more so to speak, a proverbial shoulder to cry on. I knew there was something wrong with him, he just wasn’t telling me. Marquis has been like this since the news broke of my eventual signing to the company of Project: Honor.
“You can speak,” I calmly replied. “After all, today is a glorious day for us all. The New World will be shown to the eyes of many and our vision will become a reality.”
Marquis gulped, nervousness kicked in. “Yes, about that…”
“Oh?” I replied, an eyebrow raised. “What is it? Something I need to know about? Tell me, Marquis, what could there be something to fear about?”
“There’s nothing to fear, but I do need to question something about this move of yours, it seems rather ominous and the details are far more inferior than you had hoped for. I feel a slight qualm about this whole thing, that feeling of uneasiness is going to stick around so long as this pans out.” Marquis exclaimed. “I only ask for what’s best for you, as your brother, as your life-long friend, a god should not be put to the tests of developmentals.”
Sometimes I do question his own sanity, and sometimes, it never pays off. Marquis was a trustworthy man for myself, and he’s been very well known for being my right-hand man, but this doubt against me? This question of my own rank? I felt attacked, I felt disrespected, I felt as if the knife was brought to my back.
“Qualms?” I stood there, a questioned look resting on my face but it soon turned to a grinning look, a chuckle coming from myself as I smirked. “Come on, Marquis. There’s no need to question my rank, nor to question where I consider myself to be ranked, they’re all going to end the same way, right? I’ve been a leader, a true ruler, a literal god amongst men. Doubting me, or my place, wouldn’t seem to be the smartest idea anyone would ever have.”
“These hopes of yours, Levi, they’re unapproachable. You’re spreading yourself thin on hopes you cannot even grasp onto.”
“And what makes you think this, Marquis?” I began to question. “Because this isn’t like you to come and doubt me out of the blue like the way you have.”
“Levi, you’d know I would never lie to you, correct?” Marquis questioned, and to which, I simply nodded in silence. “This whole ‘God of The New World’ thing, you’ve been claiming it for years now and yet, you’ve done nothing to make us see a new world. These past few months? I’ve not been seeing the new world, I’ve been seeing the old facade of the world we’re in right now and I hate it. I have everything about it.” A deep sigh comes over Marquis. “I just wish for the vision to return, I want to see the new world once more, just for there to be true hope than the one you’re projecting so much.”
This inner feeling of being personally attacked by my own right hand man, it was sickening. It was repulsive beyond comparison. Personally, I could stand up right now and beat him down for his words- but I won’t. I couldn’t. I shouldn’t. That would be so much to risk for.
“A brother of mine in arms, how could you not tell me this beforehand and only begin to mention this when we’re steps closer to our goal? I expected better behaviour wise from you, Marquis. Way better behaviour than what I’m seeing and hearing right now.”
“I apologise, Levi. I shouldn’t have said a word-”
I quickly was able to interrupt him with a louder tone to his, “You’ve said enough, Marquis. You’ve said enough to hear what you truly felt about the new world and quite frankly, I’ve been appalled over these accusations. I understand now how it feels to be the inferior one, because after all of this from you, it felt as if I was being talked down onto, and I hated it.”
“Levi, you know better that it wasn’t how I meant it to go.”
I let out a small chuckle, standing from my seat and stepping closer to Marquis. “I’m aware, my dear friend, that’s why your attempts at it were lacking in superiority. There’s a reason as to why you were never deemed fitting for the role of mine.”
“Levi, I never wanted your role-” I stepped closer and felt the chills run down Marquis’ spine. The shivers that ran down were enough to tremble him, make him fall to silence, it’s not that easy having a god stand before you and step up to you in a menacing manner. “-that role is yours, sir. I could never want to take up that spot from you. Forgive me, I don’t truly know what overcame me.”
“Questioning my rank. Now, you’re almost bowing at my feet,” Circling around him just to feel the aura he presented off of him was almost cursed, I could smell the fear and most definitely, I could sense the feeling of betrayal. His mind certainly wasn’t clear. It was corrupted. “What could we do with a pathetic excuse of a man like you? I remember our bond, Marquis, the bond we have had for years and now- questioning the man who gave you the free ride into the new world, don’t you think that it can be taken away from you? I brought you into the new world, Marquis, and I can very easily take you out of it.”
Spoken in a whispered tone into his ear as I circled around him for a second time. Once again, Marquis gulped. The threat was strong, and judging by his stance, he was ready to run at the very moment he could. All of that doubt he once had? Gone. All of that worrying he felt? Gone. Marquis wanted to know if The God of The New World was still alive and kicking after all this time- and he got his wish. Clearly, he got the wish of death for even daring to step up to me and question it but if it’s a fire he wanted to awaken then so be it. He’d be the first of many, with more soon to come, and I’m sure their heads would look absolutely fitting above my fireplace.
“Sir, I wish to not be taken out of the new world. I wish to be kept, for my place to be remaining in our new world-”
Again, falling for the interruption as my hand raised close to his face. Marquis flinched, almost as if he thought I was about to physically hit him. Though, as soon as he opened his eyes, he was met with my hand just inches away from his nose. I bring my hand down and allow Marquis to catch his breath for just a moment.
“That’s where you’re wrong, Marquis. You’re so pathetic and naive, thinking the new world was ours when in reality, it was all belonging to me. Haven’t you seen the world around you, it’s because of people like you that it’s so brainwashed and almost damning. People like me, people who believe that things can go back to the way they once were, we’re the people who are fighting for something and not someone like you.” I pointed and poked right into his chest. “No heart, no soul, no life, and no goals. You’re a mere mortal compared to I, and to be frank with you, Marquis, your life isn’t worth saving anymore. I could kill you on the spot that you stand right now but I’ll spare your life. For as long as you walk out of House Kirstein, then you’ll live to be free, but walk out of here and you will not be welcomed back into the new world.”
“Levi, I choose not to leave House Kirstein. I choose not to leave the new world.”
“I didn’t give you a choice, Marquis.” I sighed. “Through the doors, and make it quick, before I change my mind on what I’ll do to you.”
“I can’t believe you, Levi. After everything we’ve been through, and all because I was worried for you, this is how you repay me?” Marquis questioned, but I couldn’t bother to listen to his pity. “All I wanted was the hope we needed to rebirth the new world in all of it’s glory, I knew that you were the hope we needed, Levi. That hope is you and now you allow me to walk. All these years are down the drain because of you. I hope you live in the new world peacefully and you rebirth those needed to create a movement.”
“I already have a movement, Marquis. They had a leader that told them what they needed to know,” I placed my hand on his shoulder. “And now they don’t. So they’ll have to learn it all from me. Now, for the final time, leave this house and never come back.”
Marquis stood there, feeling like a knife was stuck right into his spine, and it was- though, I had to do it before he could do the same to me. In House Kirstein, we do not allow weakness in our men and women who swore to fight for The God of The New World, and almost at a ninety-nine percentage, those who show weakness will be sacrificed. Marquis was the first to be given the choice of walking out with his life still intact. Marquis soon hurried for the door, making his exit from House Kirstein as quick as humanly possible. That would mean I’d have no right-hand man to stand by me through my journey of Project: Honor and their SUPERNOVA brand.
Changes can be quite damaging but in this life, there’s no room for damage to the new world. I cannot afford for it all to crumble into pieces, not now and not ever. I swore an oath to protect the new world with my life and I will die with it if it were to die itself. I took a seat at the throne, watching out through the windows and seeing House Kirstein’s beautiful garden of rose buds, daffodils and dandelions bloom in the sun’s beams. Everything was beautiful. Everything was as it’s meant to be. The perfect world was soon blooming. It just takes time for everyone to see it, but soon, they eventually will. It was a promise I was willing to keep and for those who needed the validation that they can trust me, they’re sure to know that Gods never lie to their peers and quite simply-
I could never lie in vain.
Never thought I’d have to say this in my own conscience but… there’s hope. I feel the hope finally being attached to me. I feel that presence of hope being connected and finally seeing some sort of light, a chance to finally let it blossom, and let the truth I’ve been setting out for the past three years become a reality.
