press my lips against your back; like they could take away its pain.
FLASHBACK!
It’s been months since Savannah first met Jason, in fact, it’s a memory she loves the most. The way it had all started like a silly little game. The way he had wanted to “protect” her from Pyro’s antics. At the time, Pyro and Jason had some sort of alliance going on. A flight to Ohio found in mere minutes before she was heading off in the early hours of daylight, the sun having not even peeked behind the cloud yet. It’s a night that replays in her mind every once in a while. The way he showed sides of himself that others didn’t get to see. The way he was so gentle with her. The way he didn’t find her enthusiasm in meeting a new friend to be overwhelming. Of course, meeting for the first time in a one on one setting did have it’s slight awkwardness. But, they had quickly gotten over it almost as soon as Savannah had entered the house.
It was like clockwork after that, the way they had grown attached to one another. The way they had formed a special bond with one another. The way they had shown their most hidden parts to each other, the parts once thought buried down deep and tucked away for a long time. The parts of herself that Savannah didn’t believe existed anymore. Until he was lighting her up like a Christmas tree. The brightest parts of her brightest personality, the softest smiles. The warmest of hugs. It was all so simple, yet it all meant so much.
“How are you feeling?” Through the silence, Jason’s voice breaks through. Even with their fingers intertwined. Even with the way Savannah carefully plays with each of his fingers, her own secret little game. As if she hadn’t memorized every single curve and dip and shape of him. Like a constellation of stars before her very eyes. Brows knit together momentarily, nose wrinkling slightly as she lets out a gentle sigh. It’s hard to put it all into words really. Hard to focus on everything she’s feeling. She’s been so angry lately and for good and valid reasons. Who wouldn’t be upset at the things people were saying about her? She’s always been known to be too emotional, too soft, too gentle, too kind. But, she’s never going to change that about herself. It’s what makes her truly special.
"I'm nervous, admittedly. But, this means I'm one step closer to potentially having gold around my waist. It's weird, you know? There's probably a buncha' other people who deserve the chance I'm being given. But, this means that they have faith in me. That they believe me to be good enough to handle this. It means that I have everything to lose and everything to prove in this match. Plus, there is a familiar factor in this..." She pauses, lips falling into a brief frown. But, Jason merely shakes his head as he carefully grasps her chin between his fingers. It's a gentle grasp, just enough pressure to keep her still so she focuses on him in this moment.
"You are amazing. Seriously, there's no one who deserves this shot more than you do. Yes, there's someone in this match who is going to stop at nothing to try to get in your head. But, you're better than that, Savannah. You can handle any challenge placed in front of you, you've more than proven that since the day you stepped foot around here. I believe in you." There's a gentle smile that crosses his lips a moment later, before he places a gentle kiss atop her head as her eyes close for a moment. She knows he's right, even if it's hard to believe in herself sometimes. To know that other people believed in her when she couldn't believe in herself? It warmed her to the very core.
It’s a complicated thing when your love language is touch, especially when you’re also a professional wrestler. But, right here in this very moment? It was easy to convey how much he meant to her with even the slightest of touches. The way her fingers trailed up his arm in a little tippy tap motion. The way they continued to trail upwards until her hand rested just above his heart. There’s a grin that crosses her lips as she shifts slightly so that she’s on her side, fingers soon lightly drumming against his chest. “Ba-Bump, ba-bump, ba-bump.” A slight pause. “Your heartbeat is always a little skippy. Like, sometimes it’s beating too fast or sometimes it’s beating just enough. But, there's this little skip every time I touch you that makes me break out into this silly little grin.” She wrinkles her nose up playfully, leaning upwards to steal a gentle kiss from the taller male.
There’s a silent moment between the two as foreheads gently rest together, eyes closed in the moment. There’s a lot at stake for both of them at this upcoming pay-per-view. Moreso for him than for her and it worries her. How he’s been so in his head about the situation with Drago. But, she knows that above all else? He’s determined and nothing is scarier than a determined Jason Long. She knows he can handle the challenge placed before him. Even if that means putting himself into situations that can put him at risk of injury or worse. But, that’s what she signed up for when she decided to date the world’s most dangerous man. There’s another stolen kiss before Savannah chooses to break the silence this time.
“I don’t think it’s ever been easy to put into words how much you mean to me. I say that a lot and I tell you I love you and I tell you that you’re my favorite person. But, there’s so much more to it than all of that and words just… There’s never enough of them in the dictionary. But, I really, honest to God, truly, do love you more than I could ever fathom. No one has ever taken the time to get to know me the way you have. To really be my support system and keep me out of trouble when I go off the deep end. It’s silly, really. But, I just needed you to know that I care about you more than all the stars and galaxies in the entire universe.” There’s a hard swallow on her end, even as Jason stirs in the bed beside her until he’s hovering over her just slightly. There’s a grin on his lips as he leans in to nuzzle his nose against hers, nose trailing against her skin until he presses a brief kiss to one of her shoulders.
When he pulls away, he’s got a goofy look on his face as fingers gently tickle against her sides. “Ugh, you’re literally made of sugar. How can one person be so sweet? So gross.” He flops across her dramatically, even through her fit of laughter as her head shakes. She knows many people have their opinions on their relationship, but she doesn’t pay too much attention. She loves him, she appreciates him, she cherishes him. That’s all that really mattered to her at the end of the day. Regardless of the negative thoughts from others. “Now, settle down and stop worrying so much. You’ll get another grey hair, love.” There’s a teasing smirk on his lips that she returns with a very gentle punch to the chest. Though, he playfully rubs at his chest as if she made actual impact. “Oh, come on. I’m just joking!” He shakes his head, snuggling up against her as arms carefully wrap around her waist.
CURRENT DAY!
It’s late, the moon shining in a reflective glaze across the ocean. The stars are shining in the sky and the view shifts from reflective ocean to a figure dressed in a white flowy sundress. It’s still warm enough to enjoy it, though the breeze feels like heaven. Eyes close momentarily, before Savannah Sunshine finally comes into view. There’s a look of reflection upon her face before she takes a seat on the log a few feet away. The calming and serene noise of waves softly crashing against the shoreline brings her peace. “Last show did not go as I had planned. I let my anger get the best of me, I can admit that. But, I don’t like being disrespected.” There’s a brief pause, just very brief, as she takes a moment to take in a deep and calming breath. “I know better this time though. Which means things are going to be a lot different. I know what I’m up against, I’m familiar with at least one of the two opponents I am up against. Though, make no mistake about it, I know how to focus long enough to make sure I prove a point.” There’s a flicker of something darker within her eyes, but it’s hard to really pinpoint in the dim light left by the fire that roars a few feet away.
“HAVOC, someone I am all too familiar with. See, HAVOC thinks he’s this big bad thing that can easily take someone out. But, I know he’s far weaker than he’d like to admit. I know how to get under his skin, I know how to really bring out the fight in him. But, it’s all about playing my cards right with this one. It’s about making sure I put him out of this for good. It’s about making sure I do what needs to be done to ensure I isolate him from this match.” Head rolls from one side to the other, brief cracking of her bones as a relieved sigh escapes her. “HAVOC is far more dangerous than I would like to admit, as much as I hate to say it. I know that putting him down will not be an easy task. But, with two targets on my back in this match? I’ll do just about anything to make sure I try my hardest to come out on top. No matter what, I have to keep fighting and I have to keep proving that I am not just some silly little girl. I have to keep proving to the doubters that I am a force to be reckoned with just as much as the mean people.”
Her gaze drifts out towards the ocean, watching the waves as she tries to keep her emotions at bay. “As far as Valkyrie goes, I have no clue what I’m getting myself into. I know a few things, she’s already threatened to pretty much take my knees out. Which, hey, that’s fine. That’s a focal point for anyone who faces me because they know it’s a weak point. But, they’re not just for show. They’re not just some weakness of mine. In fact, my knees are the most focal point of my body when I’m in the ring. I’ve got two super dangerous knee braces and they always come in handy when I need them. Though, I don’t like to use them unless I absolutely need to get out of a sticky situation.” She licks over her lips, a pensive look on her face. “Either way, I’m looking forward to seeing how our styles clash together inside of the ring. Though, I can’t promise I’m going to go easy on Valkyrie. But, I’m almost positive she wants me to bring my absolute best in this match up. So, I’ll give her everything I’ve got to give.”
There’s a gentle grin on her lips, one full of excitement before she’s piping up again. “Though, now this leaves me to discuss the two women who will be meeting in a fiery blaze. Kayla and Pixie. Though, I do believe Pixie just might be the one to dethrone Kayla. Which, I mean, I would just love to see it happen. Pixie isn’t one to overlook and I believe Pixie has been overlooked. That’s wherein the problem lies and that’s wherein Pixie is going to topple the current Noble Champion.” She pauses, eyes narrowing slightly. “But, hey! In this business… When it comes to war inside of that ring? Things are very unpredictable and we pull out all the stops to make sure we go big or go home. That matchup that follows this triple threat? Well, I’m sure whoever wins this match will be keeping a very close eye on it. Which, I just hope will be me in the end.” There’s a brief grin that crosses her lips, though this one has a bit of malice behind it.
“I want to go out there and give it my all in this matchup. Win or lose, I’m going to make sure I leave my mark as I always do. I have to make sure I go out there and give it my all because there’s nothing more I want than to be next in line for the Noble Championship. No matter if Pixie wins this or if Kayla retains. It will bring me nothing but pure joy and satisfaction to know that I defeated not only one person… But, two at the end of the night on my way to gold. Though, as always, I will remain a good sport and offer only the finest sweets to the losers at the end of the night. I wish you all good lucky… ‘Cause you’ll definitely be needing it.” She flashes a grin directly at the camera, waving a hand before the scene fades to black.
