Fingers thread through greasy curls, she's not sure when she last got out of the bed. Tarah was kind enough to come whisk her away while Josie was in Japan, and oh boy, words alone could never express how thankful Savannah was for those who stuck around. The sound of knocking at the guest bedroom door had caught her attention, the sound of gentle and muffled arguing could be heard from behind the door. Shoving the blankets and sheets from her face and body, Savannah sat up as she cleared her throat.
"It's open!" She called out, soon catching sight of the two children who were far taller than they were last she had seen them. In their hands were two trays of cookies and some milk, Tarah standing in the doorway as she watched her children with an amused little smirk. There's sprinkles galore and too many cookies to decide which one she actually wants.
"Did you guys make these for me?" Savannah turns her attention to Brady and Maya, who settle the cookies onto the side table beside the bed. "Yeah, but they might be a little bit too sweet. Brady put too much sugar into the mix and I told him that-" "Not true! It said-" The two children begin to bicker and Tarah walks into the room a moment later. "Hey, hey. That's enough from you two. I'm sure auntie Sav could use less of a headache." Tarah presses kisses to the crown of both of their heads, though Savannah quickly pipes up thanking them for the cookies.
Once the children are out of earshot, Tarah takes a seat beside Savannah. A slight grimace crossing her lips as her brow furrows a moment later. "How are you feeling?" Tarah's voice is gentle, though she hands Savannah the mug from the side table. To her surprise, it isn't milk, but hot chocolate instead. "I made you some hot chocolate, don't know how good it is, but I figured something warm might help you out a bit." Savannah cracks the faintest of smiles, blowing on it before taking a tentative sip. It's sweet and warm and everything she loves all in one. "Thanks, Tar'. Really, you have no idea how much this means to me. I'm probably not going to stay too long, but. Yeah." There's a sharp nod and Tarah shakes her head, arms crossing over her chest. "Oh, don't be silly Sav. You know you're welcome to stay as long as you'd like. If anyone dares come around here to mess with you, they can say hello to my bat." There's a little smirk on Tarah's face, though Savannah lets out a gentle laugh in response.
"It's fine, I don't think anyone aside from Josie and Mike know that I'm here." The sound of Savannah's cellphone ringing catches both ears and Savannah instantly reaches for it. Tarah wastes no time exiting the room a moment later, leaving Savannah to her phone call. "Yeah, hello...?" She's sure the exhaustion can he heard heavily on the other end of the phone. "Sav, it's me... We gotta talk." The familiar voice of Billy Bennett is on the other end of the line and it all but warms Savannah. "Billy! Oh, you have no idea how happy I am to hear from you. I-" "Sav, listen. I just wanted to check up on you, see how you were doin'. How are you doin'? Are you safe?" Savannah inhales a sharp breath, one she's sure can be heard on the other end of the line. She shifts in the bed, swallows hard as she reaches with shaky hands towards her mug of hot chocolate. Phone put on speaker and settled beside her. "Sav? You there?"
"Yeah, yeah. I'm... I'm right here. Promise." A beat. "I'm not doing so good, Bill'." Another beat, this time a bit longer. Savannah's almost positive she can hear a faint sniffle on the other end of the line. Meanwhile, she's biting back her own tears. "Do you think I made a mistake in marrying him?" There's a long pause of silence between them, the tension is so thick you could cut it with a knife. "I think that..." There's more silence a moment later, some shuffling going on with Billy's end. "I think that you could do a lot better, yes. I ain't gonna lie to you, you know that. But, nobody's ever been good enough for you, Sav'. You..." There's another beat, an audible sigh from Billy. "I'd ask if I could see you, but I don't think it's a good idea right now. So... You just focus on getting yourself better, ya' hear?" Billy pipes up again, this time with more conviction in her voice, even though Savannah can tell that she's been crying.
"Right, yeah. You know me, always trying to get better." Savannah swallows thickly, feeling a few tears spill from her eyes. One hand reaches up to wipe hurriedly at them. "Hey, Bill'... Thanks for being my friend. I know everyone says you're a bad influence on me and stuff. But, you're all I have left these days. I don't know how all of this is going to turn out, but..." Savannah pauses, sniffles slightly as she lets out a gentle cough. "I just wanted you to know that I love you and I'm proud of you and you deserve all the nice things this world has to offer." God, why was this phone call so hard? There's audible sniffling on the other line, but Billy manages to cover it up. "I know. You're my biggest fan, Sav'... and I love you too. Hey, listen. I gotta go. You take care, okay?" Savannah sniffles, nodding her head a bit. "Yeah, of course." The other line clicks and Savannah tosses her phone aside. Buries her face into a pillow where she lets out a muffled scream.
Tears are spilling down her cheeks now and she's in a fit of sobs. She had made a mistake, a terrible one at that. But, there was no going back now. She made the right decision, at least, that's what she kept telling herself. This way, nobody would be hurt any longer. This way, the people she loved, the people she cared about, would no longer have to suffer at Arik's hands. Even if it meant that she had to suffer. Everyone else was safe, weren't they?

"You know, they always said keep your friends close and your enemies closer." Savannah's parked outside of a rest area, sipping on a Nitro Cold Brew from the Starbucks located just behind her. "So, maybe that's why I've kept you at arms length lately... Boss." There's sarcasm dripping in every word that spills from her lips, the exhaustion evident and clear on her face. Dark bags are unconcealed and she doesn't bother covering anything up with makeup right now.
"We were friends once, weren't we, Pete'? I was part of Big Drip, an honorary member as you said. We were so close to achieving our goal and then what happened? Where did everything go wrong?" Savannah takes a moment to reflect on everything that had led up to this moment. Where friend had become foe, where someone she cared for had become an enemy.
"Oh, right. I changed, I grew up. I was forced to do the right thing for once. You may not agree with my actions, but... it was for the best. You and I both know that, even if you won't admit to it. You can call me every name in the book, you can slander me as much as you want for "turning my back on you". But, truth be told?" She pauses, looking directly into the camera now. "I'm too good for any group full of a bunch of glorified jobbers." There's a little smirk on her lips, legs stretching out to rest atop the dashboard now.
"Hey, I'm sure I just ruffled a few feathers with this one. But, someone had to call it like it is and what it is. There was never anything big about Big Drip, aside from the giraffe that you sick freaks keep around. SEND HIM BACK TO THE WILD! HE IS A FREE MAN!" She huffs, crossing her arms over her chest, a grimace crossing her lips. "That is animal cruelty at it's finest and it's unbelievable how PETA hasn't gotten involved in things with how insane all of this is. I mean, seriously? A giraffe? An actual giraffe?" Eyes roll as she forces herself to get back onto the proper topic. Now is not the time to worry about poor unfortunate animals who should be in the wild.
"You know what, Petey? You have no drip. You threw in the towel on this business because you knew you couldn't handle the pressure... and I don't blame you. There are so many talented people out there that it's hard to keep up sometimes. I'm not afraid to admit I haven't been on top of my game lately, but I've had my own bullshit going on." She pauses, taking a sip from her drink. "I'm tired, P. I'm just... I'm exhausted you know? I've been thinking maybe I need a break from all of this." A beat. "No, not a retirement. But, just a moment to clear my head and get things right again, you know what I mean?" She nods her head, satisfied with her own words. There's a lot on her mind, a lot on her plate, but she's got to focus on the task at hand.
"I might not look like much, but I can damn sure handle my liquor more than any grown man ever could. I've out drank the best of souls, the best of men and women alike. I may be all of hardly five feet tall, but that doesn't mean jackshit when you've got the liver of a sailor." She smirks slightly, tapping her temple slightly. She's lost in her own thoughts for a moment, but gets right back on track. "I'm glad we got the chance to have this moment, Petey. A moment to regroup and realize that one of us was wrong about all of this. A moment to come together as former friends who just want to squash the shit. But, make no mistake about it... You're not getting the Savannah you once knew." She shakes her head, reaching out for her cellphone as she pulls it just a bit closer.
"You're getting someone who's hungry, who's tired, who's done playing games with everyone. I say this a lot, but this time... I mean every word and I will damn sure back everything that I have said up." A beat. "Can you say the same thing? Can you say that you will do whatever it takes to put me down for the three count? Because it's going to take a hell of a lot to ensure I'm put down and put down for good." She adjusts herself, sitting up in her seat now. "There's no fun and games in this anymore, Petey. It's not fun anymore, I'm tired, I'm angry, and I'm done pretending like everything is fine when it's not and unfortunately for you... I'm going to make sure I take my frustrations out on you instead." The scene fades to black as Savannah cuts off the recording a moment later.
