(Double-barrel buckshot)
Soy un perdedor
I'm a loser baby, so why don't you kill me?”
- “Loser” by Beck
OFF-CAMERA
SOMETIME BEFORE FINDING FAITH
“So often I’ve been called a loser. Before I found faith it really bothered me. Not so much now but back before the time of faith, it was really a problem. It got to the point where I’d just sat there asking the medical staff to kill me. The shame and disappointment that I would feel were so overpowering to the point I couldn’t control myself. My first loss was when I was fighting illegally back in my day. I looked at the woman treating my wounds and said to her, I’m a loser baby, so why don’t you kill me? That was the point I knew that woman had to be mine for the rest of my life. She only turned around and said, if you're going to use lyrics at least don’t come at me with Beck.”
She started to smile, a smile that instantly healed his very soul. As much as he was still annoyed with the loss, she’d made him realize death wasn’t the answer, she was.
“My apologies ma’am. Just, well, forget about it.”
There was a deep sigh from Joseph Blaze as he looked down at his feet as was embarrassed to make eye contact. The woman just smiles as she notices that Joseph seemed to be acting shy now. That was something she’d never seen but something she picked up on straight away now.
“Come on, spit it out, Mr. Blaze.”
“Feel free to call me Joseph.”
“Okay. Spit it out then Joseph.”
“I just really hate losing. I feel embarrassed because I feel I’ve let everyone down and myself. I know I’m capable of more and know that I could’ve won with all the training and work I’ve put in. Not only that I think you’re beautiful and wondered if you’d go on a date with me. It’s fine if not, I wouldn’t want you to feel embarrassed going out with a loser like me.”
The woman just looks at Joseph and smiles.
“Don’t be silly Joseph. I’ll never be embarrassed by being with you and you’ll be back to winning ways in no time. My answer is yes by the way to going out with you. My name is Grace, by the way, no need for you to call me ma’am.”
“I’m sorry ma’am, oops, I mean Grace. I’m so glad you said yes, not sure I could handle two losses in one night. How about we head off the bowling alley so I can get back to winning ways?”
“Winning ways. I’m sorry to break your heart Joseph but your winning ways will have to wait.”
The face of Joseph Blaze drops as Grace notices this and takes his hand in hers and looks at him still with that smile on her face.
“I’m going to be handing you another loss at the bowling alley but at least I’ll buy you chicken wings to cheer you up after.”
Grace winked at Joseph who can’t help but smile at how cheeky she was being.
“I hope the chicken wings are still on offer when I win. I’ll even bust out my victory dance, the one you especially like it seems back from the previous fight that I won.”
“Come on you. Let’s get going before this fighting talk gets me kicking your butt out in that dirty looking cage.”
The giggle from Grace makes Joseph smile as he still has hold of her hand and leads her off towards the bowling alley.
ON-CAMERA
PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA
SATURDAY, MARCH 26TH, 2022
It was another four days until Project: Underground IX but “The Messenger” Joseph Blaze and “The Protector” Lurch were already in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. To be exact, they were both heading into an abandoned looking warehouse. There was no one else around as they did this, well other than the cameraman of course who is reluctant at first until Lurch grunts at him. Now they’re all inside the warehouse, the only source of light is from the cameraman’s light on the camera. All that can be seen is the face of Joseph as the eerie sounds from the warehouse surround them.
“Meatball. There’s going to be nothing spicy about you. You’re going to walk into that ring and you’re going to be facing a man who hates losing. I get it, Meat Boy, we all hate losing but unlike you, I have consequences that I can’t even speak of. Let’s just say, if you think Lurch and me are scary, what until you upset The Savior. The Savior has done unspeakable acts to people in and out of Project Honor in their career. At the PPV, The Savior has already said that they’re going to unmask and show who they’re. Back on topic though, the topic of losing. I hate it and I treat it as a sin, something The Savior really doesn’t like. I’m going to make you wish you never stepped foot inside that ring with me. I’ve lost so much in life and I’m not about to lose more because of a guy named after a big ball of meat. I’m in the Main Event because it’s my calling Meatball. You’re only here because you’re yet another person who doesn’t get the message. The message is that you either join us or you’re against us. I’m guessing since you haven’t joined us that you’re accepting your fate of what is to come. There’s going to be a HELL of a lot of pain. I say that because I have to send a message out. A message that if you’re against me, you have to suffer thanks to me.”
The creepy laughter from Joseph echoes throughout the abandoned warehouse as it sends shivers down the spine of the cameraman.
“I’m going to enjoy the hurting you, Meatball. You’ve brought this on yourself. We could’ve been friends you and I but no, you don’t want that. You want me to hurt you and hurt you I will. I’m the nicest of men usually but The Savior has told me I need to unleash the inner evil inside me. I have to show Project: Underground that I’m not going to accept being second best. I need to release my evil upon you all, get in that mindset of why I hate losing, and channel it into hurting you, Meatball. The Savior believes I’ve been too nice up until now and let people make a mockery of me. I will no longer allow such a thing. I can’t allow a man called Meatball to beat me. I sure as HELL haven’t been beaten by a Meatball at a buffet, so I’m sure as HELL not going to let a Meatball beat me in the ring. When that bell rings at the start of our match Meatball, I pray you’re ready for what is going to be unleashed upon you. If The Savior had their way they’d be in the ring tearing you limb from limb. Only they’ve had to rely on me and I’m not about to let them down. So I’m going to be the one who is going to go to my dark place. Going to rip your arm off and slap you about with it and when I’m done doing that, I’m going to choke the life out of you. I’m going to watch through your eyes as the life drains right out of you.”
There is a smirk like never before that appears on the face of Joseph. A smirk of such sinisterness that it’d give you nightmares for life.
“You shall burn in HELL, Meatball. I’m going to do such unspeakable things to you inside that ring. People are going to be leaving the arena bleeding from their eyes after seeing what has happened. Forget The Purge, Forget The Rapture, it’s going to be all about The Blaze. When The Blaze is unleashed, there is going to be evil that has never been seen before. There are going to be things happening inside that ring that no one has ever thought capable of Joseph. The Blaze is going to be known as the worst thing to happen to Project: Underground since RC Sterling stepped into the ring. That’s a guy that has thrown away what he could’ve been. Meatball, you’re going to end up another guy who has done the same just like him. It didn’t have to be this way but you’re not smart enough to realize what I’m saying. Usually, I’d say I’m sorry for what I’m about to do to you but I’m not going to be sorry one bit. The Blaze is coming. It can’t and won’t be stopped. It doesn’t matter if it’s you in the ring Meatball, whether it’s Christopher Graves, Virgil Barrick, or even Gin Kuromiya, the man who will soon have The Blaze coming for him too.”
“This Project: Underground is all about PAIN and SUFFERING and I intend on making it live up to that name. I’m going to bathe in your blood Meatball. You’re going to look like a rare piece of meat by the time I’m done with you. You’ll be laying in that ring, in a pool of blood and all stand there and rub that blood all over me. You’re nothing but a sacrificial lamb to me and I’m going to be the one to slaughter you. The Savior wanted to see the evil in me be released and that’s just what they’ll get. The Blaze will light up the arena, watch as everyone looks on in fear as the clown of Project: Underground Meatball gets the PAIN and SUFFERING that’s coming his way.”
The camera moves around to try and find Joseph but he is nowhere to be seen. All that can be heard is the sound of Joseph Blaze singing.
“Take me out to the back of the shed,
And shoot me in the back of the head, uh,
Yeah, take me out to the back of the shed,
And shoot me in the motherfu*king head.”
Suddenly the camera stops and focuses on one spot. That’s when the familiar sight of The Savior can be seen. Well, the familiar sight of their mask as the piercing cold eyes peer through and into the camera.
“Meatball, I’m The Savior. I’m the one who is the reason why Joseph is going to unleash The Blaze upon you. Just know that at Project: Underground’s first PPV I will be there and I will show everyone who I am. Word of warning to you Gin Kuromiya, you should never have laid your hands on Lurch and Joseph. They will be making you pay for it because if they don’t I promise you now, I will and no one wants to suffer the wraith of The Savior. As for you Meatball, I’ll happily cook you alive if Joseph doesn’t before me. I’m going to enjoy watching your PAIN and SUFFERING!!!”
Just as suddenly as The Savior had appeared, he disappears again only for Joseph to be standing there in front of the camera with that cheesy grin on his face.
“London's burning, London's burning,
Fetch the engines, fetch the engines,
Fire Fire, Fire Fire!”
