"Damn, I never thought it'd feel so good to see you again."
Cadillac Jackson peers down at his lap at the white pair of shin-high leather boots that lay lazily across his thighs. A smile cracks his lips as he runs a finger across the laces of the boots that he hasn't had to lace in over two months. The past few months have been an absolute blur for Cadillac - let's be honest, nothing had been the same since his confrontation with Ozymandias. Not just physically, though if he was being honest with himself, the ol' back never really healed up fully, and after what happened with MYOJIN? Well, I don't think anybody would have blamed him for being less than 100%. But despite how much physical pain he was in night after night, it wasn't that sort of pain that left Cadillac questioning the future of his career - it was the mental and emotional.
You see, not a lot of people understand how much it took out of Cadillac going one on one with the companies most unstoppable force. Facing Ozymandias wasn't just a championship opportunity, it became a daunting obsession. Nights of sleep were lost, countless hours of productivity were sacrificed, and the only personal health conditions that were addressed were strictly training related. He stopped eating right, he stopped sleeping, and he was cutting corners to 'beat' his obsession. Yes, Cadillac needed to prove to everyone that he could beat Ozy, but he needed to prove it to himself more than anything.
But.
He didn't.
Cadillac lost. After weeks of training, studying, and planning. After finally convincing himself that he truly was deserving of the opportunity no matter what his brain was always telling him. After being positive that things were finally going to 'come up Caddy' for ONCE in this twisted hell called life...
they didn't.
And that was a lot for Cadillac to accept. It IS a lot for him to accept, even still. The entire time he attempted to lead Team KaChow, his mind was never in it. How could he lead a team if he couldn't even lead himself? Who would follow a loser? Why would anybody - ANYBODY take him seriously when he told them they were wrong. He disputed it all, for months after he won that battle royal all he heard was 'Caddy isn't ready', 'Cadillac got lucky' and 'This is a waste of a title match - we already know the winner' and he would fight that every single time. He told them that they'd eat their words. That they'd regret underestimating him. He was so sure, so confident that if he believed it hard enough maybe, just maybe he could wish it into existence. But that would be something nice.
And why the fuck WOULD something nice happen in his life? That'd be too easy. Too out of the ordinary. Cadillac was in a downward spiral, and wasn't sure how to pull himself out of it.
That is - until he got a text.
The Lil Petey retirement tour. One of the most iconic and polarizing figures in the history of Project Honor is hanging up the boots permanently - well, as permanently as a professional wrestler can. But he was hand selecting opponents that he wanted to face, and he reached out to Cadillac. And that was it. The sign. The calling.
The spark needed to get Cadillac Jackson up off his moppy ass and back into the squared circle.
Back home.
Though the match obviously didn't go as planned - it gave Cadillac the insight that he needed. He belonged here - and he was going to make it one way or another. This week another opportunity presents itself. A match against the current tag team champions, The Phantom Troupe. Though the title is not on the line, and perhaps for the best as Cadillac continues to find himself, the match couldn't have come at more opportune time, with such an opportune tag team partner.
TJ Thompson.
Thompson and Cadillac have been involved in a couple of matches together up to this point. But never as a tag team. And going one on one with one of the most prolific tag teams in the industry today is a hell of a way to start. Cadillac knew the moment he saw this match - this was it.
He's going to show DJ Hunter and Kyle Valentine exactly who he is. He's going to show the Project Honor roster exactly who he is.
Cadillac Jackson is going to show the world... EXACTLY who is.
With the rest of The Drip gone, Cadillac knows he has to step in and fill those drenched shoes - and make this night one nobody will ever forget.
Cadillac laces up the boot with a smile, and stands - turning to the camera with the white, toothy grin never fading, delivering two final words before the scene fades to black.
"Caddy's home."
