{The screen fades in and we find ourselves sitting in the high seats of the legendary 2300 Arena where we find none other than Trafalgar Law sitting in one of the seats that looked down at where the ring will be for this week's edition of Project Underground, a thoughtful look on the face of the young Japanese man}
Law: People don't know this about me but amusingly enough I come from a family that's connected to wrestling as my father worked as an agent for one of the larger companies in Japan. He wasn't a wrestler or a booker or even some high muckity muck.
No, he was the guy who took care of the gaijin...the foreign workers...while they were in country working for the company.
I remember sitting on the living room floor in my childhood home in Shinagawa, taking a break from playing video games just to watch my father sit at the table behind me, splitting his valuable time at home between doing paperwork for the company and watching me just play games. I loved my father and he loved my two siblings and I enough that he put in extra hours because he would go on these tours that would take him all over the country and he would work with some of the most...ill tempered *bastards* that would come to Japan.
Rocko Daymon, El Qunitus Genesis, The "Awesome One" Kerry Masters, Jayson Fury, Stephen Greer, Amy Heartbreaker, Lemal Jordan, Riverboat.
But there was one man who came from America who didn't try to force his demands upon my father who was already exhausted and worked to the very morrow of his bones. One gaijin who would actually prefered to travel with my father and showed him the levels of respect that eventually taught me to respect him.
{Law gives a wan smile as he chuckles just a little bit at the old memories that crossed his mind at that particular moment}
Law: There was times that this one man would actually stay over at my home, helping my father with everything work related and that instilled into me the work ethic that I use each and everytime that I'm in that ring...be it here at Project Honor or elsewhere, my father's teachings showed me how to put the maximum effort to its best use.
But like all good things, this too came to an end.
{The smile disappears from Law's face as he runs a hand through his black hair for a moment}
Law: You see, ladies and gentlemen, my father kept something from his family because he didn't want to be a bother on anyone because he spent his whole life being there, putting in the time, putting in the effort so that *everyone*, not just him or the group but *everyone*, succeeded in the end.
You see, he had a...let's call it a "dark passenger"...that had traveled with him from the time of my great grandfather and my grandfather. A dark passenger that was born to my family in its original home in Hiroshima. My father thought that he'd kept that passenger at bay and quiet so that he could live a total and full life.
But somethings are never meant to be, is it?
So as time passed, he worked harder to get things done as he felt his candle melt lower...but never once did he let it show but after my older brother and sister had left, I was left to watch as this man that I grew up respecting-my father-slowly start to become more and more of a ghost until finally one day, I blinked and he was gone.
So my father will never got to see my debut here at Project Underground nor will he ever get to see me hold up my first world championship.
Now in most people that would be enough to severely piss them off and or start one of those lame ass tirades about being an "anti American" or some such shit like that.
{Law then leans back, a grim smile cross his boyishly handsome features as he does so}
Law: But not me. You see my father taught me in his life and in his passing so many things that I can't afford to slow down long enough to be angry or even hate how a long ago series of unfortunate events caused me to loose my father to death.
No, my father taught me by experience that the only time you regret something is when you never try to do it in the *first* place.
And that's something that I fully intend to show to my opponent this week on Underground. Sure he might be bigger and heavier than me by a good margin, but that doesn't mean a fucking thing to *me*.
I am as my father taught me.
The *HARDEST* damn worker in this entire brand.
And this weekend at Underground, I fully intend to enjoy myself...Cheers!
{The screen fades to black}
================================
{After the end of his promo, Law leans back in his seat as he rubs his hands across his face}
Voice: You know, I met your dad a few times before he passed.
{Law lowers his hands and turns to look at the speaker who is once again revealed to be none other than the "Underboss" of the Mechanical Animals himself, The "Blackheart" Wil Pierce}
Law: What, back in twenty seventeen?
Wil: Yeah, to be honest I never knew he was sick..let alone dying when I was working for Super Japan. Your dad looked as hale as a fricken horse, my brother. But he must have made one hell of an impact on you to let that kind of fire out during a promo.
Law: What can I say? I know that a lot of media says that Japanese men are horribly authoritive fathers and what not but my dad didn't try to force us be strict follower of the rules or anything. As long as we didn't do anything to bring shame to the family, he let us explore and discover who we were really at heart.
Wil: Heh, sounds kind of the opposite of my dad and *that* is saying something.
Law: That has got to be saying something man.
Wil: So you wanted to talk after your promo, what's up?
Law: I've been thinking about that offer you made to me back at the pay per view...it sounds good but I'm not too sure about leaving the big kid in the lurch.
{Wil raises an eyebrow at Law for a moment}
Wil: What's up?
Law: A whole mess of shit. You got time before you catch your flight back to India?
{Wil's face breaks out into a wolfish smile}
Wil: My man, I ain't leaving this berg till I've had some Philly Steak. So let us go my man!
{The screen fades to black once more as the two men stand up and walk out of the camera's view}
