Flashback
[The scene opens to a slightly younger looking Mikey Hero, dressed in Khaki Shorts and a blue shirt with the word Fortnite in white letters. He appears to be standing in the middle of a public restroom as he types on his Phone.]
I know Mom, just ignore them and focus on my Schoolwork. It’s just hard when they won’t leave me alone…
[Mikey starts to send the text, but before he can he feels a breath on his neck. Mikey looks behind him, looking up at a slightly taller, and much more muscular young man. Mikey’s lip begins to quiver as his tormenter smiles at him.]
Bully #1: “Aww are you crying to your Mommy Nerd?”
[Just then another young man walks out of one of the bathroom stalls, the second one isn't very muscular, but appears to be older than Mikey and the first Bully. Standing at at least 6’4 with long pulled back black hair and stubble riddling his face, clearly this young man has been held back a couple years.]
Bully #2: “Haha, what a loser.”
[Mikey turns his attention to the kid who just came out of the stall, as he does the Bully standing behind him yanks the phone from his hands as Mikey snaps around to face him, anger in his eyes.]
Mikey: “Give it back.”
[The first Bully puts his hand out and gives Mikey a slight push, creating distance as he steps back.]
Bully #1: “They won’t leave me alone Mom; it makes me want to cry.”
[The Bully recites Mikey’s texts to his mother as his friend laughs, inching closer behind Mikey.]
Mikey: “Give it back I said.”
[Mikey demands as tears begin to well up in his eyes, the first Bully just laughs at him.]
Bully #1: “Why don’t you come get it, you little bitch.”
[The young man holds the phone above his head as he, and his friend both begin to step closer to Mikey. Mikey sweeps his leg out behind him, spinning around and tripping the older young man behind him, he then jumps up and connects with both feet to the chest of the first bully, knocking him into the wall causing the phone to fall to the ground as the glass in the front of the phone shatters.]
Bully #1: “What the fuck?”
Bully #2: “You're dead Henson.”
[The second Bully exclaims as he begins to get back to his feet. Mikey makes a run for it, leaving the bathroom and exiting into a school hallway, the bell rings as several kids begin to pile out of the various doorways around the hall. Mikey darts through the crowd as the two bullies give chase, quickly being joined by two more meathead looking jocks as Mikey reaches the entrance and swings the door open. The four men continue to give chase as Mikey desperately looks for a means of escape, he runs around the outside of the school, but makes a wrong turn, finding himself standing in front of a brick wall in a secluded area outside the school. Mikey turns around to see his tormentors finally caught up to him.]
Bully #1: “Nowhere to run now bitch.”
[Mikey's eyes dart back and forth between the four men who begin to circle around him, tears begin to stream down his face as Mikey drops to his knees and throws his arms over his head for protection as the four bullies pounce on him and the scene fades.]
Mikey hits Guy with a missile dropkick in the middle of the ring before popping up to his feet, he looks around at the crowd in the PPG Arena, his nerves growing worse and worse until he turns his focus back to Guy, who is staggering back to his feet. Mikey quickly shakes off the nerves as he hooks Guy’s head and runs toward the turnbuckle for “The Best Thing Since.” As the Ref counts…

I did it Mom! I won my first match!
[Mikey types on his phone as the scene reopens to the waiting room of Watkins Tower, Mikey sits on a black metal folding chair, wearing khaki shorts and a black Tee with the words “Hogwarts Academy” In yellow letters. Across the room from him sits Charles Secretary, Ashley Rose, seated at her desk behind a computer hard at work dressed in a white skirt, and black blouse. The two remain silent as Mikey stares at his phone waiting for a reply from his mother, who seems to be quite busy on her trip in the Bahamas. Before a reply comes the front door opens, tearing Mikey’s attention away from his phone as he sees Charles walking in, in a black suit and green tie. Charles notices Mikey sitting there and gives a big cheesy grin.]
Charles: “Ah good, you’re here. I have great news!”
[Mikey stares at Charles for a second, unsure of what this news might be, before nodding for him to continue.]
Charles: “You were worried about finishing your schooling under my care, correct?”
[Mikey slowly nods in the affirmative once more.]
Charles: “Well I’ve figured it out.”
[Charles turns his attention toward his secretary, who still has her face buried behind the computer on her desk.]
Charles: “Aubrey, didn’t you go to school to be a teacher?”
[Ashley peaks her head around the computer, a look of annoyance etched across her face as she mutters under her breath.]
“It’s Ashley.”
[Charles appears to have not heard her as he simply gives a blank stare, awaiting an answer.]
Ashley: “I mean yeah, I did, which is what I would be doing if it wasn’t for freaking covid shutting all the schools down, leaving no teaching jobs. But I was thinking more like little kids you know, not…him.”
[Ashley shoots a glance at Mikey who quickly ducks his head, staring at the floor in embarrassment as Charles gives a loud clap with his hands.]
Charles: “Splendid! Then it’s settled, Angela here will be your teacher, you can do school right here in Watkins Tower while you're not training, See son? There’s no problem, Charles S. Watkins can’t fix.”
[Charles gives another loud clap before laughing in delight, he heads towards his office as Ashley rolls her eyes and flips Charles off behind his back as he walks through the door to his office, closing it on his way in. Mikey notices this and lets out a loud snorting laugh, causing Ashley eyes to dart back at him as Mikey buries his head once again. Ashley sighs, feeling bad for taking her anger out on an innocent Hero.]
Ashley: “I’m sorry, it’s just this isn't exactly my dream job. The truth is I wanted to be a teacher, I love learning and I love little kids so I thought it would be the perfect job for me, but due to the current situation that was a no go. So now I’m stuck here handling all the paperwork and appointments for that jackass who can’t even get my name right, just because my mom used to bang him back in the day or whatever.”
[Mikey laughs loudly once more at the “Bang him” line, causing Ashley to glare at him again before a sheepish look grows on his face.]
Mikey: “Uh…I mean I’m sorry, that must suck.”
[Mikey once again turns his attention back to the floor, upset at himself for raising the ire of Ashley with his laugh. Ashley's face grows softer as she takes pity on Mikey, the lonely nerd who knows not what he does.]
Ashley: “Yeah, it does suck, but it’s fine I guess…So, you’re a Wrestler huh?”
[Mikey’s head pops up in excitement as he smiles and nods, hoping in his mind that his new profession will impress the lovely young lady.]
Ashley: “I thought Wrestlers were supposed to be big tough guys?”
[Ashley asks in genuine confusion as she flexes her arms to simulate a man with big muscles, Mikey’s heart drops as obvious by the expression on his face, but he responds rather than burying his head again.]
Mikey: “Yeah I mean some of them are, like Brandon Hendrix, or Johhny Levy. Those guys are big, but there’s also some bad ass chicks like you in wrestling, like Stella Jade, or Latoya Hixx.”
[Ashley smiles at Mikey, almost holding in a laugh as she raises one eyebrow.]
Ashley: “You think I’m a badass chick huh?”
Mikey: “The point is there’s a lot of factors that go into the sport of wrestling, it’s not just about being the biggest and the toughest, especially if you want to make a lot of money, which Charles obviously does…”
[Mikey’s voice trails off as Ashley nods contemplating Mikey’s words.]
Ashley: “Okay so what do you have to do to make money?”
[Mikey shrugs as his attention once again returns to the floor, his nerves welling up inside at the realization that he’s actually walking to a girl he finds attractive.]
Mikey: “You have to promote yourself and your matches I guess, something that’s hard for me because of my stupid anxiety. It’s like talking to people, talking about myself in front of a camera and stuff. It's just like something I feel I can’t do, which sucks because I love wrestling so much, I always have and it’s crazy to think that I’m actually getting to do it now. It just sucks because once Charles realizes my stupid anxiety won’t let me promote myself to make money, or make him money, then he’ll cut ties and my dreams will be over just like that.”
[Ashley stares at Mikey for a moment taking in his words, before a sly grin appears on her face. Ashley grabs her phone from beside her keyboard and stands it up on her desk with the back facing Mikey, she holds it still with one hand as she responds.]
Ashley: “Well why don’t you practice now? Tell me about your next fight, or match or whatever.”
[Mikey shyly looks up at Ashley in confusion, certain she wouldn’t care to hear about his stupid wrestling job. Ashley reassures him by smiling and nodding for him to go ahead and talk.]
Mikey: “Well it’s crazy, just a couple weeks ago I was wrestling dark matches, and now I’m in a Pay-Per-View. The Crowning two to be exact.”
[Ashley nods once more, assuring Mikey he has her attention, she keeps her hand on her phone as she responds.]
Ashley: Crowning huh? So, who’s getting crowned?”
[Mikey nervously rubs his hands together and gives a slight giggle.]
Mikey: “Well me hopefully, see it’s this thing called the Tyrant's Crown. It’s a Battle Royale with twenty-one people and whoever can last till the end and throw everyone else out of the ring gets the Crown.”
Ashley: “And how do you plan to do that exactly?”
[Mikey shakes his head as Ashley questions him.]
Mikey: “Honestly I'm not sure, I mean not to sound to braggadocious or anything, but I’ve never really had many problems in a one-on-one situation, I’m fast and a lot more athletic than I look, but it’s always been the numbers game that got me. In school I spent most of my time playing video games or watching sci-fi movies, I didn’t really have any friends, so I didn’t have anyone to watch my back when the numbers got to be too much. Now it’s the same thing here in Project Honor, I’m the new guy who doesn't know anybody going up against twenty other guys and girls, some of whom have known each other for years and could pair up to take out the competition, Hell there’s even a tag team in the match, Kyle Valentine and DJ Hunter, The Phantom Troupe they call themselves.
So, if you're asking me how I’m going to overcome the numbers game in the Wells Fargo Center on February Twentieth, the answer is I don’t know. But it’s weird because I know I can, like I know I have it in me to stand up and be a hero for people just like me, people who feel like they're up against insurmountable odds and have no one to turn to for help. I can be a hero to those people, an example to keep fighting and never give up, that’s why I chose the name Mikey Hero. That’s what I felt like when I had my hand raised in that dark match of Proving Ground two weeks ago, I felt like a hero.
But If I’m going to be a real Hero to those people, people like me, then I have to keep going, it’s not enough to win one match nobody outside of that arena saw, I have to ignore my nerves, I have to push all that anxiety down and rise above it. I have to be the one to show all the kids that they too can be heroes, and that they are not alone, and to do that I have to throw Twenty other men and women out of that ring and be dawned with the Tyrant’s Crown on my head to prove that you can be amazing, that you can overcome the odds no matter how big they may seem, and I know…”
[Mikey stands up out of his chair, his chest puffed out in pride as he points to his heart.]
Mikey: “I know in my heart that I can do it, that it doesn’t matter how big they are, or how many. I know that I can overcome the odds, I know I can be a true hero and triumph over oppression, over insurmountable odds to make the impossible possible for everyone out like who thought someone like me would never amount to anything, I can be a hero!”
[Mikey shouts the last words with pride, and he tries to catch his breath following his inspirational speech. Suddenly sadness falls over his face once more as he slumps back down in his chair.]
Mikey: “But like I said it doesn’t matter anyway, promos is how you make money, and once Charles realizes I can’t talk in front of a camera this will all be over.”
[Mikey lets out a long sigh of defeat before looking at Ashley, who seems to have an evil grin on her face. She presses the screen on her phone and picks it up off her desk, turning it toward Mikey to show him she was recording his little monologue.]
Ashley: “Looks like you just did.”
[Ashley sets her phone down on the desk and gives Mikey a victorious smile, Mikey smiles back at her as the scene fades.]
