"I need more money!”
[We hear the gravelly voice of one, Charles S. Watkins proclaim as the scene opens. We see the aforementioned Watkins pacing the boardroom floor of Watkins towers, Charles stops at a nearby window staring down upon the Apartment Complex bearing his namesake, Charles takes particular note of a young man playing Video Games through an open Window.]
Watkins: “With all the Bezos’ and Branson’s with their fancy Rocket Ships, where’s my Rocket ship.”
[Charles turns around revealing a large table behind him with a group of people sitting around it, People whose names and titles are unimportant to the overarching story.]
Watkins: “Well where is it huh?”
[Charles stooges all jump a little as he raises his voice in irritation, expecting an answer to his ridiculous question, expecting a plan to give the self-made Real Estate mogul even more money like he even needs it.]
Stooge #1: “You could always raise the rent on your properties again?”
[Charles shakes his head in disappointment.]
Watkins: “No no, I just raised it across the board last month, anymore and these poor schmucks won’t even be able to afford a pot to piss in, let alone one of my high-end properties.”
[Charles looks back out the window once more before darting his gaze back toward the table of nervous looking stooges waiting for another bright idea. One particular stooge, who we shall refer to as Stooge #2 raises his hand, seemingly having the answer.]
Stooge #2: “You know, maybe you could turn your attention to other ventures.”
[Charles stares at the man, looking intrigued as he continues.]
Stooge #2: “I mean you’ve made a lot of money with Real Estate Sir, I mean a lot of money, maybe as much as one person possibly could.”
Watkins: “So what exactly are you suggesting?”
[Charles askes bluntly, wanting desperately for the man to get to his point.]
Stooge #2: “Well sir, all I’m saying is maybe it’s time to get into another line of business, diversify your portfolio you know?”
[Charles nods slowly, standing still for an uncomfortable amount of time as the men around the table all fidget nervously.]
Watkins: “And what business would you suggest I diversify with, as you put it.”
[The stooge nods slowly and swallows hard before answering.]
Stooge #2: “Well sir, I don’t know if you’ve been watching the news lately, but it appears the the Wrestling business is beginning to hit what they call a boom period.”
Stooge #1: “I heard that too.”
[The original stooge chimes in, cutting the other off. Stooge #2 nods slowly, staring at his colleague in slight annoyance before turning his attention back to Mr. Watkins.]
Stooge #2: “Maybe you could do something with that, really take advantage of the money seemingly pouring in from all those inbred Wrasslin’ Fans.”
[Everyone around the table begins to nod and mutter to each other as Charles stands stoic for a moment, waiting for the commotion to die down. Eventually everyone quiets down, and the attention is turned back to Mr. Watkins, who clears his throat before speaking.]
Watkins: “You're all fired, get out.”
[The men around the table all look at each other nervously, not sure if Charles is serious or not, until he raises his voice removing all doubt.]
Watkins: “I said get out!”
[Charles Watkins voice booms throughout the boardroom in anger, as the Men hurriedly gather they’re things and leave as the scene fades out.]
[The scene reopens to the familiar face of one, Charles S. Watkins, however this time the setting is very different. Charles is draped in his black Armani pajamas rather than the usual business suit, he appears to be walking around a living room area with a TV remote in his hand, Charles plops down on his suede couch and scoffs while remembering today's earlier events.]
Watkins: “Wrestling Business Ha! Give me a break.”
[Charles turns the news on the rather large TV positioned in front of him, waiting to hear the stock report, when a very interesting story catches his attention.]
News Reporter: “That’s right Shawn, very big news indeed. Professional Wrestler, Steve Savage has signed a Multi-Million dollar deal with Warner Brothers, to star in, as well as direct several movies in the coming years. This deal effectively makes him one of the richest athletes in the world.”
[Watkins pauses his TV, unable to believe what he just heard. Could those idiots have been right about there being big money in the wrestling business? He thinks to himself, however before Charles can fully process this information he hears a clattering sound coming from his bedroom. Charles, startled, jumps off his couch and makes a beeline to his bedroom, wielding his TV Remote as if it were some kind of weapon. Charles makes it to his bedroom door and quickly kicks it open, he is startled by the sight of a rather small figure, wearing black track pants and a black hoodie. The figure is facing away from Charles, staring at the billionaires work desk and grabbing a black card off of it. The man in black turns around, noticing Charles standing in the doorway of the room.]
“Oh shit!”
[The man says as he quickly runs toward Charles' bedroom window, Charles gives chase after him, watching the small man climb out his bedroom window, which resides on the fifth floor of Watkins Tower. Charles figures the boy to have made a grave mistake, trapping himself on the awning outside the window. Charles watches in amazement however as the cloaked figure descends down the building by grabbing onto window sills on his way down, each time kicking off the wall and doing a backflip down to the next one all the way to the ground. The hooded figure looks up at Charles with a triumphant smile as his face as Charles scowls in utter disbelief of what he just saw.]
“Freeze!”
[The Man in black hears as he turns around on the grass of Watkins tower to see a security guard, holding a gun pointed directly at him, the man looks back up at Charles who is now smiling as the scene fades.]
“Mikey Henson huh?”
[The scene reopens back in the Boardroom atop Watkins Tower, the man in black sits in an office chair with his hood down, revealing a mane of shaggy brown hair. Charles appears to be going through the attempted burglars wallet.]
Watkins: “And you're only eighteen? Jesus son, what were you thinking coming into my house and trying to steal my credit cards?”
[Mikey just shrugs, obviously feeling a combination of fear and embarrassment.]
Watkins: “Don’t wanna talk huh? Maybe we’ll just have to call your parents then and ask them why you thought it was a good Idea to break into the home of the man who owns and lives right across from the very Apartment they live in.”
[Mikey jumps to his feet and puts a hand up, pleading with Watkins.]
Mikey: “No please no, don’t call my Mom, she's at work and she’ll be pissed if she has to come home for this.”
[Charles seemingly scoffs at the young man's cries for mercy.]
Watkins: “Yes well you should have thought of that before you broke into my house.”
[Mikey begins to tear up as he tries to explain himself while Charles continues to dig through his Wallet.]
Mikey: “Look I’m sorry mister, I really am, it’s just that...Well it’s just that, it’s just me and my mom at the house. Dad left when I was two, and Mom works two jobs just to provide for me, and we still don’t have enough money. Then I look at you, and you got all this money, and I don’t know. I just figured you wouldn’t miss a little bit of it, and I could buy as many V-Bucks as I wanted.”
[Charles stops rummaging through the young man’s wallet, darting his attention toward him in confusion.]
Watkins: “V-Bucks?”
[Mikey nods his head excitedly.]
Mikey: “Oh yeah Mr. Watkins, it’s like Fortnite currency and you can buy all kinds of stuff, new characters, gliders, anything!.”
[Charles stares at Mikey for a moment processing the information.]
Watkins: “Your telling me that you broke into my house, and tried to steal one of my credit cards, just so you can play a video game?”
[Mikey slowly nods his head before looking down in embarrassment. Charles busts out laughing rather loudly in the young man’s face.]
Watkins: “You’ve got to be kidding me, an eighteen year-old man playing child's games, what a loser!.”
[Charles can’t seem to stop laughing at Mikey who begins to tear up in embarrassment.]
Mikey:” It’s not that funny.”
[Mikey wipes a tear from his eye as he continues to look down at the tile of the Boardroom floor. Charles' laughter finally subsides as he notices a picture in Mikey’s wallet that catches his attention. Charles pulls it out, examining it for a moment before speaking.]
Watkins: “Who is this? Looks familiar.”
[Mikey’s head pops up in sudden excitement as he sees the picture.]
Mikey: “Oh that’s Steve Savage, he’s my hero. He’s the best, guy’s a total badass, doesn’t take crap from no one. I hope to be just like him one day.”
[Charles recognizes the name and person from the news story he was watching. The proverbial wheels in Charles' head begin to turn as he stares at the picture for a moment before audibly scoffing.]
Watkins: “Hero?”
[Watkins sets Mikey’s wallet down on the Boardroom table and takes the picture of Savage into both his hands before ripping it in two.]
Watkins: “Winners don’t need heroes kid.”
[Mikey looks like he is about to bawl as Charles walks past him to the front of the table, taking a seat.]
Watkins: “You know that little escape you tried to pull off was quite impressive.”
[Watkins motions for Mikey to take a seat at the opposite end of the table, he reluctantly does after a moment of wiping tears out of his eyes.]
Watkins: “Where did you learn all that fancy footwork?”
[Mikey just shrugs.]
Mikey: “Video games I guess, I mean I was never in athletics or anything, I was always too afraid the other guys would just beat me up.”
[Charles rubs his chin for a moment in concentration before pounding his hand on the desk, startling Mikey, and causing him to jump in his seat.]
Watkins: “Tell you what son. Why don’t I make a deal with you?”
[Mikey stares at Mr. Watkins for a moment nervously.]
Mikey: “A deal? Like one where you won’t tell my mom what I was doing here tonight?”
[Charles enthusiastically nods his head.]
Watkins; “Exactly! And in exchange for my generosity, you will come to work for me.”
[With that Charles stands up from his chair and brushes his hands down his Armani Pajamas before beginning to walk toward the door of the Boardroom. Mikey looks down and around in confusion for a moment, not sure what to make of the offer, before looking up at Charles who is standing at the door just about to walk out.]
Mikey: “Wait, work for you how?”
[Charles smiles and looks back at Mikey.]
Watkins: “You my friend are going to become a Pro Wrestler.”
[With that Charles walks out of the room, leaving Mikey to his own thoughts as the scene fades.]
