BIOGRAPHY
Growing up in New Zealand, from a very young age Andrea only dreamt of one thing, and that was becoming a professional wrestler like her father. Unfortunately, such dreams weren’t easy to achieve living in a remote nation in an even more remote town. So eventually the family would move to America so that Andy’s father, J.J. Cross could attempt to launch his career alongside his own best friend. But before he’d even have a chance, fate struck a disastrous blow in the form of a sickness that he would not recover from
Heartbroken and distraught, Andrea’s mother would work doubly as hard to give her daughter a good upbringing. And Andrea herself even showed talent at Judo, even getting offers from notable colleges with the potential of working towards an Olympic level.
But Andrea on her graduation day, had different ideas, and chose to follow in her father’s footsteps instead. To become a wrestler, and to help walk the path that he never got to finish. Training under her uncle, she showed determination and grit needed, and shortly after her nineteenth birthday she’d made her debut.
Early on, despite a lack of experience, she attains success through high speed and never-say-die spirit with a heavy and dangerous dose of high risk and high flying moves to dazzle crowds and overwhelm opponents both smaller, and much bigger than she is. And combine that excitement with a pure unbridled fighting spirit, the future seemed extremely bright for young Andrea as she made a name on the independent scene.
Except disaster struck one night, on her way to grab a title belt hanging high above the ring she slipped and fell to the unforgiving canvas below and tore the ligaments in her right knee, a devastating injury that put a near immediate halt on her budding career.
An injury bad enough to end her career, Andrea was faced with the possibility of needing to give up on her dream. But despite ‘better’ options being available for her to make a career out of, she made the decision to keep fighting and rehabbing her injury in the hope of not just one day being back into the ring, but being better than ever.
Rebuilding her entire style towards a more grounded and technical style, heavy on strikes. Andrea did just that in proving everyone around her wrong and returning to the ring after a 2-year layoff, and after running through the indie competition in expert fashion, she finally got herself a call to the big ticket.
