A Warrior’s Heart
The two women sit across from one another. One of them shrouded in mystery and the other.. Was Project Honor’s number one contender for the Gatekeeper Championship, LeeAnn Morgan. You see, LeeAnn was not sure how to feel. She had earned this title opportunity but, deep down, she longed for more. She wanted to make a huge splash and she felt as if a low tier title wasn’t the way. The other female spoke as it is revealed to be NFW’s Abigail Lindsay, it appeared as if they were already into the conversation when the cameras had joined them.
”No, I totally get what you are saying but as we all know every business is about building blocks, stepping stones if you will. We have to start somewhere. Guccio Gucci didn’t start off being the top tier brand of the wealthy it is today. Nintendo started as a playing card company. The Gatekeeper Championship is your playing card company. You need to win this to put yourself in the ranks and eyes of other champions.”
LeeAnn, still unsure of how to feel nodded in agreement. She sipped her coffee before speaking.
”No, yeah. Abi. I mean, I know but is it a bad thing to want more? Is it bad to strive for excellence? I mean, Angelo Caito acts like this title he currently holds is so much more than it is. He wants to make it out to be the World Title. It isn’t and he isn’t Ozymandias.”
LeeAnn was interrupted by the other woman.
”It is called pride, LeeAnn. It is not a bad thing in the right hands.”
LeeAnn nodded as she stirred her coffee nervously.
”What happens when pride is the beginning of your downfall? What happens if you let pride get in the way? What happens when pride is all you have left?”
We flashed to being in the thoughts of LeeAnn Morgan. She was more confident in this space. She smirked as spoke into the camera.
”They say pride comes before the fall. You are well overdue for your fall Mr. Caito. For too long you have walked around with some false sense of entitlement, like this company and this business owes you something. No one owes you a God damned thing, Angelo. You are nothing to me and to this business.
You brag about beating KAYLA, about beating Noah Hope but these two are nothing compared to the hell on heels you will be in the ring with at Unbreakable Resolution. I just suffered my first loss in this company, to say I am pissed off is an understatement. To say I want retribution is to sell my warrior’s heart short. DIANA caught me off guard. I won’t sit here and no sell that fact. She got one over on me but that won’t happen this time around.
I am salivating over being the one to shut you up Angelo. I am biting at the bit to not attack you before the match and just declare myself the champion. That would be too easy. That would not prove a God damned thing. Oh no. Angelo, I want to see your reaction as you lay there, staring up at the lights and I am holding the title high above my head. I want to see you crying as the referee holds my hand up in victory. I want to kick you back down as the ring announcer announces “And new Gatekeeper Champion, LEEEEANNNNN MORGAN!”
No more excuses, Angelo. The time is upon us. The battle lines are drawn. The Nationwide Arena is set up and ready to go. Are you ready for me Angelo? I doubt it. I doubt you have the balls to actually try and step in the ring with me. I bet you are sitting at home pondering deep within your tiny brain of ways to get out of this match. When the bell rings you are done for Angelo. Your little play pretend time with the title is kaput, over… doneskis! I will be the new champion and no one will stop me.”
It was revealed that every word she just spoke was out loud and to a diner full of people. Abi smirked as she grabbed LeeAnn by the hand.
”LeeAnn, sweety, don’t get so worked up over it. I have seen and wrestled some of the best and you are right up there. You will be a force soon enough. After this event, you will be a champion and thus all eyes will be on you. No more will Scott Dunn be able to say that your only claim to fame is a win over John Blade. No more will Jennie Fenix be able to hold anything over your head. You will achieve everything you set out to do. The LeeAnn I have come to know in this short period of time is a go getter, a riot maker. Now, go make some noise in Project Honor but first, we are going to grab some real drinks. Not this mediocre Folger’s Coffee rip off.”
LeeAnn paid for her coffee as the two women stood up and disappeared out the door almost in a hurry. LeeAnn was anxious and nervous, yet confident that she would be the one to dethrone Angelo Caito at Unbreakable Resolution. She was not concerned about what happens if she wins, she was more concerned about what happens if she loses. Where does she go if she has already hit rock bottom? No time for that. A new year meant a new start and she was determined to continue making an impact in Project Honor and the wrestling world.
She looked across the limo at Abigail as she smiled at what LeeAnn considered to be a perfect specimen. She wanted to impress her friend as well but, judging by Abigail’s words in the diner, she had already caught her attention. She moved the blue hair from her eyes as the scene faded to black.
