A rather poignant poem preceding an image echoed through the annals of history over the past year. The child rebel soldier Angelo lying supine in the water in defeat against Valkyrie at Bloodbath in his first match back. Many had argued that this was the best outcome for the man in retrospect, stating that the loss had only served to unfurrow his focus, that his nefarious protégé being expunged for his actions over the years wasn't in fact the key to the man being absolved for his own past wrongdoings. This match would arguably lay the groundwork for the man we got today: a blood lust, hell driven angel of death that slays anyone that comes after his prize. But, coming after "Azrael", faith comes after them.
"Having watched the process of grief unfold, and being firmly trapped beneath it’s unbending will; all I can speak of is how much it’s served to shape my perception of self and surroundings. The shift in my environment, the quarrels birthed from such unwavering turbulence. From beginning to end, I realised with my luck that I didn’t have much time to spare; so I needed to live as much life as I wanted so long as oxygen pumped through my lungs. From a pauper to standing atop a pulpit constructed by the words of those who loved and loathed me, I became Angelo - for better or worse. If I can see the world burn today to protect what I cherish most, then I want the right regrets at the end of the road.
If my time ends at Unbreakable Resolution II…. I wish for my beliefs to be echoed by the masses in only the manner of which I followed.
To live as I wish.
To die as I may.
At its core, this is freedom.
LeeAnn Morgan, if I fail to you, this title and the foundation I built for it dies, and this Gatekeeper Championship goes back to the abyss of irrelevance. You wanted next after KAYLA and Noah Hope, but if you had realized what I've done to them, you wouldn't have wanted to be next, but wanted to be the last in line. Brick by brick I have built this Championship out of the dismay that Earl Boyde brought it to and I made the Gatekeeper Championship into something of importance. With me, this Championship will be main eventing shows, being front and center on billboards, posters, and main attractions for fans, because when fans pay to see me get beat, only for the hero to die a heroic death at the hands of the Underground King. You don't get to live this fairy-tale ending where God defeats the Devil like they say in the Holy Bible, but you get to join in a grave next to ASHER, Lesley Adora, Earl Boyde, KAYLA, and Noah Hope in my cemetery."
The visage of confidence however begins to crackle beneath the weighty subject matter at hand. In a rare moment of vulnerability, Angelo's voice begins to stammer and fluctuate in a cycle of anger, sadness, restraint yet unbending conviction. He smothers the cigarette beneath his boot, as his hands begin to tremor whilst he cups his face in what is transforming into a frightening state for the Gatekeeper Champion. Pacing back and forth, he appears lost in his convulsion before once more finding his bearings to say his last words in a ravenous rage.
"Your optimistic belief does nothing against the cards you're dealt with. You see, while you fight for the freedom, fight for the dreams, but face the facts that you are weak and you are vulnerable when you step into this ring with me…
FACE FACTS, AFTER UNBREAKABLE RESOLUTION I WILL MAKE SURE YOU CAN'T WRESTLE ANYMORE! YOU'RE DONE! IT'S OVER FOR YOU! LEEANN MORGAN WILL REST IN HELL!!!
…. But fear not as it's not going to be on my own accord Morgan…..
The Devil Made Me Do It"
The camera shuts off as we're set with Angelo's words going into his third title defense against LeeAnn Morgan at Unbreakable Resolution II, can the devil keep his title run going?
