ENTRANCE DESCRIPTION (OPTIONAL): "Just Like You" by Falling in Reverse begins to play as Indy Darling walks onto the entrance area with the hood of his vest pulled over his eyes. He drops to one knee with arms outstretched on either side, soaking in the reception from the live crowd. After we hear "Honestly I'm just like you" for the first time, he springs back to both feet and allows his hood to fall from his head, revealing a lit cigarette between his lips. Indy is sporting a pair of sunglasses under his cropped reddish-blonde hair, and his expression is difficult to read. Neither smiling nor frowning, he casually makes his way toward the ring his eyes focused on the challenge that lies ahead of him. Upon reaching the ring, he slides under the bottom rope and lets his vest slide off of his shoulders, catching it in his right hand before whipping it out to a lucky member of the audience. He is wearing full tights with his name stylized down the right leg, along with color-coordinated kick-pads and an elbow pad on his left arm. He moves toward the ropes facing the hard camera and steps onto them with one foot on the bottom rope and one on the middle. He looks around at the crowd, letting a slight smile creep over his face, as we hear "I am aware you are all assholes" from his entrance music. He then takes a final drag from his cigarette before flicking it to the ringside area, while soaking up  the cheers, jeers, curses, and praise from the diverse audience reacting to his presence in the ring.

GIMMICK: Indy Darling is a 2nd Generation wrestler, however his father was never able to make it big. He grew up around the wrestling business and has been influenced by various styles and cultures. Indy loves competing on the independent wrestling scene, and has based his entire persona around being the stereotypical independent wrestler. He uses the most popular moves, loves to dive out of the ring, and wears the gear you would expect to see on someone from the independents. He is able to mix it up in technical, aerial, and striking styles, and he thrives when matches move out of the ring and around the arena. This is not to take away from the fact that he is a skilled athlete and performer, but instead of evolving into more of a mainstream wrestler, he wants to make the mainstream more like the Indies.

Indy is the son of a British immigrant, Clive Darling, and an All-American girl-next-door, Maggie Carmichael, who had Indy out of wedlock when they were young and dating. Clive was an aspiring professional wrestler and Maggie was studying for her degree in political science. Despite putting a strain on their relationship and career aspirations, the young couple decided to raise Indy to the best of their ability. Whether it was their differences in parenting style or life choices, the couple ultimately split up to go their separate ways. Maggie forfeited her parental rights regarding Indy, and thus Clive gained full custody. Still hoping to make it in the business he loved, Clive took Indy on the road with him to every county fair, high school, and armory he could get booked at. During the week, Indy would attend public school, but on the weekends, he received his true education as a student of the business.



Unfortunately, tragedy struck when Indy was 12 years old. Clive was performing at a show in Waterloo, Iowa during The George Tragos & Lou Thesz Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame induction weekend. He had heard that professional scouts were in attendance on the lookout for new talent, so he pulled out all the stops in an attempt to impress them. In this instance, pulling out all the stops meant that Clive had wrapped himself in barbed wire and lit himself on fire before performing a shooting star press off a 30’ scaffold through a series of un-gimmicked tables rigged with C4 and broken glass. The move was spectacular and received a standing ovation, but Clive was no longer alive to see it. When the official saw that he was unresponsive, paramedics were immediately called in, but it was too late. While Clive’s death was determined to be of natural causes, young Indy had watched his final maneuver from ringside, a magnificent display of grace and violence that would haunt his dreams to the present day.



After Clive’s unfortunate passing, Maggie Carmichael, now going by Margaret, was awarded custody of their son. By this time in her career, Margaret was moving up the political ladder and had collected enough money from special interest groups to make a comfortable life for herself. While she continued to advance her career, Indy was left to be raised by Margaret’s maid and butler, Miguel and Carlita DeSantos. While the couple spoke little English, they cared for Indy and often entertained the impressionable teen with recordings of their favorite Lucha Libre program. By this time in his life, Indy already knew that he would follow in his father’s footsteps and earn the kind of success that Clive had failed to achieve.



Indy began to train himself on dusty old mattresses in the basement of his mother’s home where he could learn in secret. One day, while searching for used mattresses in the alleys of Indianapolis, Indy was cornered by an unruly group of thugs. They demanded Indy’s money, and when he refused to cave in to their demands, they began to beat on him mercilessly. Fortunately for the teen, the alley they were in was next to a building owned by retired pro wrestler, Dr. Dalton Miyagi. Hearing the commotion and believing that some unsavory bums were fornicating near his building, he rushed outside with a broom to shoo them away.  When he saw the teen getting beat up by a group of men, he thought about staying out of it and minding his own business. Yet something clicked inside the old hermit and made him leap to the young man’s defense. Using a combination of wrestling and martial arts maneuvers, he quickly dispatched of the attackers and took young Indy inside to tend to his injuries.



After learning that he had been saved by a legendary 1980’s mid-carder, Indy begged Dalton Miyagi to help him train for a career in the squared circle. The Doc was hesitant at first, but ultimately agreed after learning that Indy’s mother was filthy rich. In order to convince his mother to pay for the training, Indy threatened to go to the media and reveal that the conservative senator had birthed a child out of wedlock with a pro wrestler. Fearing what it could do to her career, Margaret agreed and Indy began to train at Dr. Dalton’s Dojo in downtown Indianapolis. Indy began to compete locally at the age of 16, thanks to the fake ID that Doc helped him acquire. He would eventually drop out of high school and start to take bookings across the Midwest. After catching the eyes of the right people and with the Doc’s old connections in the business, Indy participated in tours of Japan, The UK, Canada, and Mexico. The legend of “Everyone’s Favorite” Indy Darling had officially begun…

Indy Darling has won a number in independent wrestling championships in the United States, primarily in the Midwest. He has also competed on tours of Japan, Mexico, and the UK, earning praise from the international wrestling media as an up-and-coming star to watch. He once wrestled a bear for a small Canadian promoter in front of a crowd of 32 lumberjacks, but he was disqualified for using a kendo stick. Indy Darling also has an impressive collection of wrestling memorabilia, which consists of used cigarette and cigar butts he’s personally gathered after they were carelessly discarded by both legendary competitors and modern day stars.

Despite these personal accomplishments, Indy's greatest victory came with an upset victory over Colton Saint to capture his first major title on a mainstream stage...The Project: Honor X-Factor Championship.

1. NAME: Senator Margaret Carmichael

RELATION: She is Indy’s disapproving mother who blames his wrestling obsession on his father. She is ashamed of Indy’s chosen life path and has gone to a great deal of trouble to distance herself from him. As far as the general public is concerned, they have no connection whatsoever, and the Senator would like to keep it that way.



2. NAME: Dr. Dalton Miyagi

RELATION: He is a retired wrestler and serves as Indy’s coach and mentor. He has an old-school mentality and is kind of grumpy SOB. He still goes by his 1980’s stage name, a cross between the characters from ‘Roadhouse’ and ‘The Karate Kid’.
