The arena lights are reduced to a dim, the absence of light in battle with the growing excitement of the fans. As the bell chimes slowly, the rolling growl of the approaching bass emerging from the PA system to the delight of the fans. Cheers, applause, and some less satisfied scowls ignite the audience into a frenzy of excitement, culminating on a singular focal point as golden sparks shower over the gorilla position.

As the daunting beat of 'Gently' begins to climax, the aggressive heavy strumming of the guitar signals the arrival of the monumental Titan, the God reborn.

Hyperion.

Appearing from within the raining sparks he strides forward a step to allow his visage soak in with his spectators near and far, his scowl-bearing face scanning the arena before him. Surmising everyone who lays eyes on him. Almost in tune with his music he raises his right fist high to the sky, and releases a bellowing roar to the Gods themselves.

He walks to the ring, slowly and confidently, making note of all the faces surrounding his ring. Not breaking his expression once, even as he mounts the apron, he comfortably throws one leg after another over the top rope and enters the ring, circling the mat as he acquaints himself for the fight to come. Before he completes his entrance, he walks once more to the south side of the ring, eyeing up the camera directly before one final warning to the Gods, his fist held high and his roar deafening.

BIOGRAPHY

Hyperion's life in bullet-point form;


* James Knox, aka bad ass biker who ran with a crew called the Immortals MC, as their road-captain.

* Partook in meetings with other groups, clubs and MC's. Went to buy a new street drug called' Steam' with some bro's, took a sample and the stuff pretty much blew his mind.

* Drug-deal turned wrong, he was betrayed by some of his brothers and attacked - the drug was meant to kill him, as it had done a couple other that were with him. He escaped with his life with help from the drug-chemist Bodhi. She eventually knocked him out and sent him to hospital.

* Woke up in hospital, the drug didn't wear off and he started thinking he was Hyperion, the great Titan of Greek mythology. Had crazy strength, stamina and fury. The psychedelic was taking over his mind. 

* Bodhi feared for her safety so confided in Knox/Hyperion, and got him out of hospital. Together they went into hiding for a while, fleeing to a safespace she knew in Bethesda, Ohio. They waited until the other bikers were arrested/ killed (the media was a circus for weeks) and with their past lives/ selves dead to the world they decided to start something anew - professional wrestling.

* Bethesda had a smalltime wrestling federation that was launching, and Hyperion fit in perfectly. They signed up for the Ascension Wrestling Federation and started a new (and long) career there.

* 'Hyperion' took over James Knox's mind more and more, driving him forward to battle. He was conflicted, but somewhat in control. He won many fights, and climbed the ranks eventually winning the top prize of the AWF Heavyweight Title, but at a cost. His mind was breaking.

* Turning more aggressive than ever before, 'Hyperion' was poisoning Knox's mind. Nobody knew who was in control anymore, Bodhi tried to help but Hyperion lashed out and left her barely alive after a vicious attack. She feared for her own safety, and left her friend behind. She moved to Japan shortly after.

* During a title match, Bobby Barratt hit Hyperion so hard with his bat Debra that he literally knocked the 'Hyperion' out of Knox's head. Waking up not knowing where he was or who he was, Knox ran away and confined himself in solitude.

* After a very long hiatus, Bodhi returned temporarily to help her friend recover, or at least remember. She refused to give up on him. Slowly, she brought him back to 'normal', but it was in vain. Hyperion was fading, and the vicious tendencies of Knox were reappearing. He was violent, bloodthirsty, unpredictable.

* She had hoped to save him, but after a few matches and losses the stresses built up and 'Hyperion' returned, more furious than ever. It is not know if this truly was Hyperion, or Knox in control but his focus was clear - he wished to build an army. He spoke of the Gods often, claiming he had a connection with them and he could share their knowledge, power and wealth with those who obeyed and followed him. He targeted the lower-classes of middle American and soon, he had what he aimed for.

* A loyal community, devoted to him. The 'Church of Hyperion'.

* After a long and storied return, winning the Fired Up! tournament of 2019 and reclaiming his most coveted title, the Prestige Championship, Hyperion was truly the King of AWF.

* All was not well however. Troubled by his own psyche, Hyperion surged forward with the Church (more commonly branded as a 'cult' by those outside of it). This resulted in a very dangerous, very menacing Hyperion. Unhinged and unstable.

* With his newly formed stable of Legion (Hyperion, Kuroi, Natasha & StormCrow), the group grew in power and strength. Their numbers also grew, with hundreds of followers blindly worshipping them. Over time, cracks would appear in this foundation.

* StormCrow wanted an out from the situation, but was forced against his will to create an elixir of the Gods for Hyperion and his followers, dubbed 'Ambrosia'. A better  psychedelic with submissive effects, he would use this to control and bait his followers into remaining loyal and unquestioning his actions.

* StormCrow broke free of his (literal) shackles a few days before the year-end pay-per-view 'A Very AWF Christmas', and set alight Hyperion's church along with most of his community. This enraged not only Natasha and Kuroi but set Hyperion on the warpath. Unstable like never before, Hyperion entered into a battle at AVAC to defend his Prestige Title.

* He lost the match to Seth Dillinger, thanks to interference from StormCrow. This sent him into wild rage and he chased down StormCrow to the backstage area. He encountered StormCrow in the halls, and beat him to a pulp. Raising his iconic trident over his head, he plunged it into the chest/ shoulder of StormCrow in an attempt to kill him. At this same time, local police arrived on the scene and arrested Hyperion.

* He was brought before a judge on charges more than just assault- conspiracy of leading a cult and a handful of cult-related deaths at his command. Hyperion was convicted and sentenced to twenty five years behind bars.

* He served six months only.

* His connections within the 'Church' pooled their resources and soon he was free, but his time inside cost him dearly.

* He lost the love and backing of his followers, as his Church soon disbanded after his released. His former friends turned their backs on him, and soon he found himself without everything he had built up. He was a shadow of his former self.

* His time on the outside didn't last long, as a mere couple of weeks following his release he was attacked on his way home from the bar. His assailant hit him from behind, cracking his skull and leaving him for dead. Hyperion suffered from massive TBI (traumatic brain injury) and left him in a coma. 

* He has been in medical care since the attack, comatose to the world.
