Believing he might be spared this fate if he left the country prior to the death of his father, he lived on the streets of New York City for several years, pickpocketing and begging as he struggled to survive.
Initially believing he had escaped the curse that haunted his bloodline, he was soon proven wrong; a stranger from his homeland tracked him down, and presented him with a Faustian bargain. Faced with the choice between an untimely demise and the possibility of unlimited power at an untold cost, Gin had little option but to select the latter.
Undergoing training under his cruel sensei Tonegawa, he has grown from a weak and frail child into a young man brimming with potential and fighting spirit.
He may view himself as the misunderstood protagonist of his own story, but the evil within him has been nurtured and fed by his master's lessons... and it is likely only a matter of time before it consumes him completely, regardless of his attempts to maintain control.
