The scene begins in a regular old household, with a TV being front and center of the frame. A woman can be seen sitting on the couch with a controller in hand, playing a game with utmost concentration.
“Dammit! I couldn’t do it.”
Hana Nakajima exclaimed as Christopher Sabertooth walks into the scene with his phone in hand and crashed beside his girlfriend.
“What are you playing?-- Ah! DBD! Always the same for you, isn’t it?”
“Well, it’s not my fault they keep coming out with new exciting content! I love Dead by Daylight. You know I am not good with Shooters, so survival games are the best I can do. Recently, they came out with a new update. They’ve got four new killers! And a lot of survivors too. It is their biggest content drop yet.”
Hana exclaimed with a lot of enthusiasm, but Chris shook his head.
“I know all about it! It’s been everywhere-- It’s frankly hard to miss the update. I watched the trailer and it was really intriguing. I had to look up the killers, to see how they fit in the DBD world. To know about their lore, ya know.”
“Oh-- You’re a sucker for lore, aren’t you? Well, go on then. Tell me more about these killers! At first sight, they seem pretty dull if I am being honest. I hope you can redeem them by giving some character to their basic ass design.”
Hana commented on the new update, which got a chuckle out of Chris.
“Come on now! They put effort into this update! You don’t have to be *that* truthful you know. But maybe I will be able to change your mind about these new characters. Let me think-- Who do we talk about first? Ah yes! Pyro. A pyromaniac…. That’s about it really. I feel like his character ends the moment anybody says that. I am sure they gave him some redeeming qualities -- I know I am supposed to sell you on these characters but this one is not that impressive if I am being honest. Carry a bucket of water and you’d probably be fine. What’s he gonna do? Burn you alive? Just kick him in the dick and run. It’s easy.”
“Oh. He looked the most interesting if I am being honest. That’s a disappointment.”
“It’s not the first time people have said that about Pyro. There is one thing this character is consistent with-- Is being consistently inconsistent. You’d think it would put up a decent fight but anybody could get away from him. I could probably do it with my eyes closed. But moving on, we can talk about... Oh. Savannah. You remember college right? There were girls that a guy would definitely stay away from unless they have a low sense of worth and self-esteem? The ones that would probably do anybody? Yeah, that’s what Savannah reminds me of. The only reason anybody would run away from Savannah is to not catch the diseases that she’s probably carrying. So, practically you would think that she is some psycho bitch-- right? I would think so too. But this bitch is one step away from diabetes with the amount of sugar she intakes. And there’s no sugar rush here-- Just a lethargic cunt that you can easily dodge by throwing a bar of candy as bait. Or you could just bait another survivor cause Savannah is also a prolific man-eater. Just pick a female survivor and you should be fine!”
Chris suggested, as he grabbed the controller from Hana and went to the character select screen to show all the new killers. He hovers over Savannah as Hana looks away in disgust.
“Why did I get annoyed by just looking at her? Get this bitch off my screen. I am never playing with her. NEXT!”
Hana clicks on the d-pad as the character select moves to the next character in question.
“Oh-- I don’t like this one. Personally, she is one of the stronger killers in the game. But I have played against her before. I thought I did a good job but somehow, right before the end, she came in and crushed my FUCKING DREAMS! It wasn’t fun playing against her. It’s almost like the computer always rigs it for her to kill all of the survivors. No matter what you try, she has some unfair mechanics that gives her an edge over the killers. Her name is Elena and she’s a lot tougher than she appears to be. Looks can be deceiving baby, and you know that very well. People counted you out in the ring until they got knocked the fuck out! Well, consider this character to be similar in that aspect. But you know, when the whole world regards you as one of the best killers in the game-- There’s a lot of scrutiny that follows along with it. I think that Elena is overrated but maybe, to a lot of other people, she is not. I see their point of view but I don’t understand why everybody puts her on a pedestal. Puts her at the top of their tier lists. Once you figure her out, it’s not as difficult as it seems to be. There’s always a workaround to how Elena plays and it’s for people to realize-- stop believing in the hype. It’s the nerves that get to you. You see how I told you how unfair her mechanics are and how broken she is-- your mind is immediately shifting towards that narrative. A narrative that is set by the public. But nothing is set in stone in this game. I do not agree with how highly Elena is ranked. I don’t agree with how broken people think she is. I don’t agree with how UNJUST this system is that CONSTANTLY rewards her every action. We will find a way out of it. We will survive. But enough about Elena-- It’s time that we target MY personal favorite character in the game. It’s like we were MEANT to be a match. You know when you look at a character and you know that you’d like it? That’s what happened to me. My favorite character in this new update, by far, is Jason!”
Chris has a smirk on his face as he uttered the familiar name. Hana gets excited by the mere mention of Jason.
“Wait! Jason! Do you mean like Jason Voorhees from F13 series?! I never knew they did a crossover with Dead by Daylight. That’s surprising knowing that they have their own survival game--”
Chris interjects Hana before she can finish.
“No silly! Not that Jason.”
He clicks on the d-pad as Jason’s character appears over their TV screen to the disappointment of Hana.
“What the fuck is this? What is this lanky white boy going to do?!”
“Hey! Don’t say that! I am a lanky white boy too.”
“But these characters are supposed to be scary! Why would anybody be afraid of this short man with an Irish accent? I would probably burst out laughing if he ever caught up to me. Just because he carries around a razor wire-covered bat doesn’t make him a badass. Anybody could pick up a weapon and do something with it-- I am not interested in this character. He seems very dull to me. It’s like they watched American Psycho one time and designed this character. But they missed out on the charisma. He looks blander than an unseasoned mash. He looks like a guy that would get his life ruined by a girl like Savannah and then cry about it on Tumblr. I don’t buy him as a killer. Why do you like him so much? I feel like this is a waste of time.”
Chris slaps Hana’s hand away as she tried to change the character. He shook his finger in disapproval with a faint smile on his face. Hana looks confused as to why Chris would act like this over “Jason”.
“While I do find the humor in all the things that you just said-- you couldn’t be further away from the truth. Jason, is in fact, the most interesting character in the game. I feel a personal connection with him. When I look at him, I feel like I have known him all my life. His common man look only adds to the drama that he brings with his gameplay. Jason has quite an interesting backstory. You see, one of the new survivors in the game used to be Jason’s leader. His master. His teacher, of all things. He taught Jason to be this badass motherfucker who wouldn’t care about anything but himself and the cause that they supported. He showed him how to use the weapon that he carries in the game. He taught him to be a REAL killer. Something Jason hadn’t been for a very long time. He was just another fighter-- like you said yourself. He was as basic as one could be. But something changed inside Jason ever since he met his teacher. He snapped. He became BRUTAL. He became what he was always destined to be. All through the help of his mentor. And guess what he did, Hana!? He STABBED his teacher in the back. He made a FOOL out of him. He bit the hand that fed him!! And yet somehow reaped the benefits from this heinous act. He applied everything he had learned under the tutelage of his mentor to become the VERY thing he sought to destroy with his betrayal. He wanted to replace his mentor. He wanted to OVERTAKE his mentor in every aspect and his final test was to show that he was ready-- To show that he could be somebody by his own accord. And he did just that! He proved to the world that he was not just a Prince. He proved that he could be the KING! The RULER! The EMPEROR! Yet-- something didn’t feel right about it all. It’s funny you mention Savannah because the two characters are actually an item! The lore suggests that being around Savannah had made Jason go soft. While Savannah is used to making men around her soft, this wasn’t as his teacher expected it to be. He wanted to be proud of his student for what he had achieved but with every step, it seems like he was drifting away from the goal. He was losing his killer instinct.”
“Then why did they add him as the killer and not his teacher?”
Questioned Hana with a look of curiosity on her face.
“Because it’s funny! Don’t you see the interesting dynamic that he brings? His mentor-- A REAL killer, has to escape from his protegee after being stabbed in the back by him! It’s fucking funny!”
“Is it though? Honestly, it doesn’t make much sense to me. But you do you, babe.”
“No-No. You are right. It DOESN’T make sense, isn’t it? Why would his mentor EVER want to run away from him? Especially after what Jason did. Jason deserves to be the one hunted and not the hunter. He deserves to get stabbed in the gut with a blade and get his insides pulled out. He deserves to be placed on a hook and struggle to breathe as his teacher watches on-- Looking at how his follower-- his brother-in-arms failed him. That would be a satisfying story. I care too much about the lore and you are right. My interest in Jason is because of the silly dynamic that the game designers thought of. It’s STUPID that he’s a killer. It’s STUPID that people regard him as an Emperor. It’s STUPID that his mentor has to run away from him instead of standing up to his face and teaching him a lesson. If I was his mentor-- I wouldn’t run away. I don’t care how much fast the heartbeat gets… I don’t care how much the screen shakes. I wouldn’t run away from Jason because that would be STUPID. I don’t know what they were thinking when they added Havoc to the same game as Jason. Heck, Havoc even SOUNDS like more of a killer than Jason could ever be. Jason may share his name with a horror royalty-- But he’s not as scary as they hoped he would be. If only you could more than just wiggle your way out of the killer’s clenches -- If only you could do more than just block their pathway as you tried to make an escape. I want this game to be as realistic as its source material. If I choose to be Havoc, I want Jason to be the ONE running. Not Havoc. I want Jason to fear for his life, not Havoc. I want JASON to beg for mercy, not Havoc. Jason is not a killer-- He’s a phony to most. But for some reason, I just like him. I just relate to him. I just want to TALK to him. Make him understand that the killer’s way is not suitable for him. He could have been a normal human but he is forced into the life of killing as a proxy for what his mentor did. But I feel like there’s a change coming. I read the patch notes and they talked about switching the roles. They talked about Havoc being the Emperor. Havoc being the aggressor. Havoc being the KILLER. HAVOC BEING THE ONE TO SHOW JASON THE MIRROR! It’s funny because Jason does not know about the wrath of Havoc. He was ALWAYS the favorite follower. Havoc even considered him his right-hand man! While Jason chose to take the final test set by Havoc by himself-- He only proved with time, that he wasn’t ready. I can’t wait to play as Jason and try to kill Havoc. I wonder what that’d make Jason feel. I really wonder if there are any special voice lines talking about their connection or is the game going to pretend that there’s no history between the two.”
Hana pretends to care about all that Chris had to say. She was impressed at the research done by Chris for the character at hand.
“You really seem to care about this character arc. I don’t know that you cared so much about DBD. So -- I am guessing you’ll show me how to play these characters too? In fact, I would want to learn the tactics to escape these killers. I enjoy playing the survivor more.”
Hana elaborated about her likes in the game, but it fell to deaf ears. It seemed like Chris had gotten lost in the world of DBD. He was lost in the lore of the characters he spoke of.
“Are you even listening to me? Gosh. You and your games. I am leaving!”
Hana exclaimed, slamming the controller on the sofa in frustration as Chris blankly stared into the screen. The camera panned around to reveal Jason, still on the TV screen as Chris slowly reached out his hand to grab the controller. He navigated through the menu without blinking a single time and clicked on start game.

Chris selects Havoc as the camera zooms in on the character select screen. Havoc appears front and center and does his pose, before making direct eye contact with the man holding the controller.
“You have made a wise choice, Christopher. While this game is all about teamwork-- You know damn well we are not about to help anybody else “escape” are we? If we can’t kill them ourselves, let’s bait them right into the arms of the killer. Let’s make their experience as MISERABLE as it can be. Let’s make them SUFFER for even being on the same side as us. It doesn’t matter if we don’t “survive”, does it? You know what we are here for. You know WHY we are here. It’s to meet HIM. It’s to confront him for his sins. It’s to make him pay in BLOOD for what he did to us! If this game doesn’t let us hit back-- If this game doesn’t let us KILL the KILLER-- Then we will have to improvise. We will have to find a way to break the system. We will have to find a way to CHEAT the system. We will survive by any means necessary-- my dear, Christopher. But we sure as shit aren’t running away. There are set rules about not attacking the Killer. While it would be satisfying to break the code that made us… There are no rules set about a survivor attacking the OTHER survivors. This isn’t a game of cat and mouse. Let us show the Killer HOW to do their job… Let’s find the other survivors and gut them open! Let’s tie them up in their own intestines and drag ‘em along the dirt road before HANGING them from the hook. And when all the other survivors are DEAD-- We will make our exit. Perhaps, with the Killer in tow. There is only ONE man walking out of this alive-- And it is NOT the Killer. It’s going to be us, Christopher. You and I are UNSTOPPABLE together. Julius Fairweather? We will feed him to the pigs. Slade Castle? We will slit his throat and drink his blood. Rapture? We will stomp on his head until al; that’s left is mush. While they plan on their escape, we plan on their demise. We plan on upstaging the Killer. We plan on EMBARRASSING the Killer. And you know exactly which Killer I want. When I see *him*, I am going to congratulate him on his success. I am going to praise him for the man he has become. Before RIPPING him into shreds. He will see the truth, Christopher. We will MAKE him see the truth.”
Havoc lets out a maniacal laugh as matchmaking completed appears over the TV screen. A FALLOUT X Splash Art appears over the loading screen. Moments pass and we finally see the other survivors at hand. And more importantly, the killer that we are up against.

The map finally loads as the survivors load in. Havoc is seen standing front and center as the POV changes to the first-person view. The feed transfers to the game as Havoc stands with a sadistic smile on his face and his eyes wide shut. The camera slowly pans around to reveal “Jason” standing behind him with a Razor Wire Bat.
“We finally meet again, Jason.”
Havoc open his eyes as the screen fades to black.
