What you mean i was transferred!?
The expression on the face of Kagome didn’t betray anything less than sheer annoyance. She had just performed at The Crowning, proved herself capable in a multiman tag match.
She. Had proven her worth to the Proving Grounds management.
So why, then, was she transferred? It boggled her greatly, confused her more.
As she continued to stare at her phone like it would magically pull the other person on the line thru, the silence was deafening. She wanted answers, but the short notice had done little to alleviate the situation, she didn’t know if this was a good thing. Much less knew who her really was her new bosses in the changes that happened behind closed doors. She tried to slow her breathing, closed her eyes, as she brushed back a few strands of loose hair that was tied into a ponytail.
And the words came thru…
“So...i did some research and man...i didn’t think this would have to be brought up…”
A slight chuckle of the familiar voice of her manager, Jacob Archer, accompanied by the sound of papers being stacked and tapped against the surface of presumably a desk.
“Does the name...Christian DeMarco ring a bell?”
She blinked a few times...it didn’t register. There was no reason not to suspect something. Hardly, her immediate concern was the triple threat match she was slated for. There was KASEY WINTERBORN and ZACK TYLER. Neither of which, she was concerned for, but she had little to be worried, if it wasn’t for the random question from Jacob.
“So...who is Chrisitan DeMarco? Should I be concerned?”
“Depends if you mention James Ranger to him and you know him personally.”
She sat upright on her bed, readjust her bra underneath the xtra large t-shirt of her favorite video game series, Street Fighter. She frowned as she tried to comprehend the situation. It didn’t pertain to her, but she knew something about the name Chrisitan DeMarco and being moved to Fallout Roster had a reason. Something about it didn’t sit right with her as she huffed into the phone.
“Oh...i imagined you had more to say than that Kagome. You know James Ranger’s rogue gallery extends to us by proxy. I would wager it would be almost dangerous for me to appear in front of him at any time, lest he thinks James Ranger is somewhere near. He did a number to DeMarco that clearly left a mark…”
“What you mean left a mark?”
Jacob just laughs thru the phone, taking the question in with no regard for his friend’s well-being. She had no clue of the dangers that could be created by just being an ally of someone that wasn’t even in the company. She had spent her days before alongside the others just enjoying the fun of just being apart of something. This was going to be more or less the same, but she was looking to be more than a Pop sensation overseas, and definitely not something to drool over.
“Let’s just say, you will BE WISE...to stay off Christian DeMarco’s radar while you are on Fallout Roster. James wouldn’t go into detail as what their last match was and what happened, but if anything to go by, James knows how to pick his rivals and archnemesis better than most know how to emergency float on water.”
“I have to greet my boss this week, how am i suppose to avoid him on the first day? That’s setting up for problems right there.”
A sigh slightly echoes thru the speaker, followed by a dry laugh as more papers are stacked and tapped in the background.
“Figure out how you wanna be seen and heard then, because from how Fallout’s championship scene is anything to go by, it wouldn’t be too impossible for you to make a wave just from being on someone’s bad side. You’re the new kid on the block, twice now, not often someone gets the distinction of being hired for one brand but traded within quarter before the actual draft happens. They just completed that prior to your arrival, use it your advantage, BUT I MUST STRESS!”
The last words reach her stronger than the rest as she visibly showed concerned, awaiting his last words of wisdom.
“Stay off Christian DeMarco’s radar, no matter what it takes. James’s battles are not your battles. You will do well to do your best and remember that.”
